How to limit form responses?

    Is there a way to limit form responses are options within a form, based on the number of responses submitted?

    Example: A question within our registration form ask what grade the team filling out the form is registering for. The multiple choice question is being used. The choices are 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade. Only 10 5th grade teams can register.
    Is there a way to limit only 10 submissions for anyone who submits the form selecting the "5th grade" option of the multiple choice question, while still allowing those who may select "6th grade," "7th grade," or "8th grade," to still submit a form?

    Another way to ask this - can we put limits on submissions for certain answers to questions once a maximum is reached?

    Hi HuntleyParks,

    Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, you cannot limit form submissions for certain field answers once a maximum is reached. Alternatively, you can set limits on each of the options using the Quantity Gift Registry widget. This allows you to automatically cross out items that are already selected on the prior submissions. Let me show you how to set it up:

    1. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Elements menu.

    2. Go to the Widgets tab and search for the Quantity Gift Registry widget.

    3. Drag and drop the widget to the form.

    4. Click on the wand icon to open the Widget Settings panel on the right.

    5. Add the items on the Items field under the General tab.

    Note: You can separate the items with the new line and add count by adding the number within the curly brackets ex. Item{5}

    6. You can shrink and duplicate the widget to have the same copy for Grade B. In my sample form I also hid the multiple-choice element, or you can delete this if there are still no submissions. Please note that deleting a field in a form with submissions will also delete its corresponding data.

    As you can see in my example, the first load contains 10 available items for each of the Grade columns, wherein I entered the values 1 for Grade 5th A and 5 for Grade 5th B. On the second form load, There are 9 items available for Grade 5th A and 5 items available for Grade 5th B. The numbers will continue to decrease on each submission when a value is inputted.
