Jeric_THi hsgcompliance,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I’m having trouble fully understanding your workflow. You mean the first form triggers a workflow upon submission, then sends a second form prefilled with data from the first. Once the second form is completed, it sends an email with the edit link and creates a task in Jotform Boards with fields mapped from the form.
Can you explain a bit more about the issue so I can get a clearer idea of what’s happening?
Once we hear back from you, we can help you sort this out.

hsgcompliance- A user completes or edits Form 1.
- A workflow takes the submitted data from Form 1 and prefills Form 2 field-for-field.
- Form 2 builds the edit Submission Link for Form 1.
- On a board, display Form 2 with the Edit link for form 1.
- If the original Form 1 submission is edited later, that edit should retrigger the workflow, update the prefilled data in Form 2, and refresh the related board item.
I guess my questions are, Is this possible? can we prefill and auto submit a form? would editing a form in a workflow update the subsequent submission or would it create a new one?

hsgcomplianceI guess I just need a way to keep board items, and new form submissions update the same board item. I am trying to turn a board card into a client file that can easily be tracked and updated by editing the form that made that submission. The big thing that would make this super fluid would be to have an Edit Form Button on the Card.

Joeni JotForm SupportHi hsgcompliance,
You can connect multiple forms to a single Jotform Board and map their fields to task fields, making it easy to manage and review submissions all in one place. This setup keeps everything organized and simple to track.
You can also prefill Form 2 with data from Form 1. Jotform supports prefilling via URL parameters or through integrations like Zapier or Make.com. Form 2 can include a field that stores the edit submission link for Form 1, so your board card always has a way back to the original record. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, click on the Settings tab in the orange navigation bar and select the Integrations tab on the left side menu.
- Now, search for the Jotform Boards integration in the Search bar input box and select the Jotform Boards in the Integrations menu.
- Next, select your Board in the Select a Board section, map the Task Fields to your Form Fields and click on the Save button.
When you use the edit link for Form 1, it can trigger the workflow. If your automation is set to run when a submission is updated, Zapier or Make.com can push the new values into Form 2 and refresh the board item.Keep in mind that Jotform treats each submission as a single record. Editing a submission doesn’t create a new one, but depending on how your automation is configured, Zapier may treat it as a new event unless you set it up to update the existing row or item.
As for auto‑submitting a form, that isn’t currently supported. Prefilled links can open Form 2 with the data ready, but the user still needs to click Submit. This is intentional to maintain compliance and data integrity.
