On a separate note, how does "Unique Field" work? If I choose a phone number as a unique field and if someone submits a form with the same phone number again, it will not be submitted and show the error message as "Multiple submission not allowed" or sth like that?

    Hi merchantcare,

Let me explain how the "Unique Field" feature works in Jotform when you choose a phone number as the unique field. The Unique Field feature allows you to set limits based on the answer from a specific field, such as a phone number. This means if someone tries to submit the form with the same phone number that has already been submitted before, the form will prevent the submission and display a warning message. You can customize this warning message if you want.

Additionally, there is a related feature called Unique Submission that checks for duplicate submissions based on browser cookies and IP address, which can help prevent multiple submissions from the same user or network. Currently, the Unique Field feature is available for Email, Short Text Entry, Dropdown, and Number fields, so if your phone number field is a Short Text Entry, it will work perfectly.

Question for JotForm...where is the "Unique Field" entry saved? We have a form with "Unique Field" set. A user submitted an entry, and we wanted them to try again, so we deleted the entry from the form's related table. However, this did not appear to "remove" their entry as they tried to fill out the form again and got the error of duplicate of their value for Unique Field. If it is NOT stored in the form's table, where is it stored, and how can I completely "scrub" JotForm of their previous entry to allow re-entry.

    Hi merchantcare,

You need to purge or delete the submissions permanently, so the user can submit the form again, with the same Unique field that he had before. Let me show you how to do this:

    1. In Tables, once the submission is deleted, click on the Three Dots icon next to the form's name on the upper left side of the page.
    2. Select Trashed entries.
    3. In the Trash panel, tick on Select All and click on Delete Forever.
    4. From the modal, click on Delete. How does Unique Field work? Image 1 Screenshot 20
