    Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform support. We don’t currently offer live phone support. If you have any questions, just reply to this thread, or you can create a forum thread from the Contact Us page. We’ll be happy to help.

As for your concern, can you confirm if the length of the long boat is customizable? If yes, you can use the Inventory widget to create a product where a user can add the length and a Form Calculation widget will calculate the total. Let me show you how:

    1. In the Form Builder, click the Add Form Element button.
    2. Go to the Widgets tab, then search for Inventory.
    3. Click the widget to add. You can also drag and drop it anywhere to your form.
    4. Select the widget and click on the wand icon on the right side of the widget to modify.

    Adding Form Calculation:

    1. Select the Form Calculation and click on the wand icon below. Customizing and calculating total price base on user preferences Image 2 Screenshot 51

    2. Copy the formula below:

If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for, can you explain a bit more, so I can help you better?

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Hello thanks for your help, this is getting on the right track what i am trying to accomplish is set something up where my client can choose on a drop down menu or simply type in the value which in this case is boat length and lets say i charge a fixed price of $10 per foot' and the boat is 50' feet long it would be a simple calculation of 50'x$10=$500. something along those lines, i want the form to calculate and show this in dollar value. So that it coincides with my product

    Hi Gabriel,

You can simply do that on your form by adding a Short Text field and a Form Calculation. It is easy. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, click the Add a Form Element and add a Short Text field. Label it with Boat Length.
    2. Go to Widgets, then add a Form Calculation widget. Add the formula that will multiply the Boat Length by 50.
    3. Add the $ on the beginning of the formula and make sure it is color gray that indicates a text value.

    Here is the result:

That's it. You can now add the boat length and the calculation to your form.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

i just tried and do i like how that works. Is there a way to make that number reflect of the total price?

    Hi Gabriel,

If you want to reflect the Form Calculation widget amount into total price, you can do that from Product List settings. Let me walk you through it:

    1. Open your form in Form Builder, click on the Product list on the form and then click on the Wand icon, located below the product list.

    2. In the menu that appears on the left side of the screen, click on the Gear icon, located on the top right side of the screen beside Payment Settings.

    3. Click on Additional Gateway Settings, scroll down to Fetch Data from a Text Field, and then select Calculation field from the dropdown list.

i followed the steps you presented but it did not change the price that was displayed in the product sale section at the end of the form. is there a way we can live chat or perhaps screen share?

    Hi Gabriel,

You can find the Live Chat button in the lower right corner of the Jotform page. If you do not see the Live Chat button, that means that all our chat agents are engaged in chats, and are working on a high-volume queue. If you want to do a screen recording, I suggest using Loom, and share the Loom link with us.

Now, going back to your question, with what you're trying to do, it looks like we need to use a Multiple Choice element, instead of using the My Products field. But for us to come up with the guide correctly, I want to ask first, should the result of the calculation Boat Length * $35 dollars be added on top of the $400-Deposit, plus tax? Or, should we deduct the $400-Deposit plus Tax from the result of (Boat Length * $35 dollars)?

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.

Thanks for all the help i will have to step out of the office shortly and will not be able to continue today tomorrow we can doa loom screen share.

the deposit option does not need to change i can easily change that amount. what i am after is the calculated number to populate in the products field. same with the oil sampling option sometimes there can be multiple oil samples so i would like that number to also work in unison in the payment options. would be easier to explain over the phone or on screen.

kind of when there is a self serve screen option at fast food restaurants where you can add or remove items, and it changes the total amount in real time.

example: X4 oil samples @ $50 per sample.

30' foot boat @ $30 dollars per foot.

so it would show the $200 plus $900 = $1100 in the product section calculated together with tax included.

i want when my client chooses and fills out the form that they will the total amount it will cost on the form when its time to pay or submit form.

the $400 dollar deposit is not too important

    Hi Gabriel,

Things are much clearer now. I suggest replacing the "Complete Survey Report" and "Deposit" options wil the "Oil Sample" and "Boat" options in the My Products field part. Before I walk you through it, I suggest downloading the submission entry that you already received, as updating the form fields might remove some data from that submission. Here's how to do that:

    1. On your My Forms page, select the form and click on Submissions at the top part of the page.
    2. In Jotform Tables, click on the Download All button in the upper-right corner of the page.
    3. Select your desired format (Excel, CSV and PDF).

Once done, let's edit your form in Form Builder:

    1. In Jotform Tables, click on the downward arrow in the upper-left corner of the page and select Form Builder.
    2. In Form Builder, click on the My Products field, and click on the wand icon to open the Payment Settings panel. Customizing and calculating total price base on user preferences Image 2 Screenshot 91
    3. Hover your mouse over the first product, and click on the pencil icon.
    4. Change the Product Name to Oil Sample, and add the price.
    5. Remove or replace the Description. Customizing and calculating total price base on user preferences Image 3 Screenshot 102
    6. Go to the Options tab, and click on the +Add button to add a Quantity Selector.
    7. Choose Text or Dropdown from the Show Quantity on the Form as dropdown.
    8. Change the Label as desired.
    9. Click on Save Quantity. Customizing and calculating total price base on user preferences Image 4 Screenshot 113
    10. Click on the Back button in the upper-right corner.
    11. Hover your mouse over the second product and click on the pencil icon.
    12. Change the Product Name, put $10 for Price, and add a Description as desired. Customizing and calculating total price base on user preferences Image 5 Screenshot 124
    13. Go to the Options tab, and click on the +Add button to add a Quantity Selector.
    14. Choose Text or Dropdown from the Show Quantity on the Form as dropdown.
    15. Change the Label.
