By default, Jotform uses its own email addresses to send autoresponders. However, you can change the default email address to your Hotmail, AOL, or Yahoo email by configuring SMTP in your account.
Switching your autoresponse email address from default to custom can enhance reliability. Although the default email addresses are generally dependable, they sometimes end up in your spam filter or get temporarily blacklisted as spam, especially when sending large volumes of emails.
Below are the steps to set up the SMTP:
- Click your Profile Picture at the main navigation menu of Jotform.
- Select Settings from the dropdown options.
- Click the Add Sender Email button under the Sender Emails section of the Settings page.
- Enter your SMTP credentials as follows:
- Email Address — Enter your email address from Hotmail, AOL, or Yahoo.
- Host Name — Provide the hostname of the chosen provider.
- Port — Port 25, 587, or 465. This should be matched with the Security Protocol.
- Username — This should be your email address.
- Password — The password for the given email address.
- Security Protocol — Select TLS (Port 587) or SSL (Port 465).
- At this step, Jotform recommends testing the SMTP by clicking the Test Email button. If it works, click the Save Email button to save your custom sender email. You can’t save the SMTP settings if there are errors.
