Jotform’s Geo Stamp widget helps you capture location and time data when a form is opened, including date, time, latitude, and longitude. If GPS data isn’t available, it will use the user’s IP address to estimate the location, helping you verify where responses are coming from.
Here are a few ways to use it:
- Add location tracking to your forms.
- Record geolocation details when a form is accessed.
- Collect IP-based location data as a fallback.
- Verify the accuracy of form submissions.
Whether you’re starting fresh or updating a form, adding and setting up the Geo Stamp widget takes only a few steps. Here’s a quick how-to:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Element on the left side of the page.
- Now, in the Form Elements menu, under the Widgets tab, search for Geo Stamp and click on it. Or, just drag and drop it to where you want it to be on your form, and you’re done.
That’s it. You’ve successfully added and set up the Geo Stamp widget on your form. You can test it on this demo form.
Now, every time someone submits your form and allows location access, the information you get will look like this in your Email Notification:
Note
- Most browsers will ask users to allow the form to access their location. If someone blocks that request, the Geo Stamp widget will only send the Date and Time of the submission. Check out these pages to learn more about the location settings in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
- You can also configure the widget properties, like alignment, labels, size, visibility, and more, to control how it looks and behaves in your form. Check out our guide on How to Access and Configure the Question Properties of a Widget to learn more.

Does this work if added to a form at the end and making the visibility "hidden"?

we have added Geo Stamp to one of our forms, we have one iphone 11 that will the Geo stamp does not come through, Murphy's law applies and it is the one phone we need it on. As it works brilliantly on our personal phones we believe it is an issue in a setting somewhere, would appreciate any guidance you could provide.
Regards,
