All Google Forms themes and customization options (2026)

Google Forms doesn’t really offer themes, but that’s what it calls its premade forms with preset header images and adjustable color palettes. Still, with the platform’s customization options, you can be creative while making a form your own.

In this article, I’ll explain Google Forms’s customizable options (such as header images, background colors, and fonts). And for those who want more on-brand customization, I’ll also provide information on a more modern and flexible form builder.

Google Forms themes: 17 templates that Google Forms offers

Google Forms’s template gallery houses 17 templates organized into three categories:

  • Work: Event and customer feedback forms, order forms, job applications, time-off requests, and work requests
  • Personal: Forms to collect contact information, find a time to meet, RSVP to an event, invite people to a party, order a specific T-shirt, and register for an event
  • Education: Quizzes, exit tickets, assessments, worksheets, and course evaluations

Compared with the theme libraries in WordPress and Shopify (which have virtually endless customizations), themes within Google Forms are minimal. The only components that change from template to template are the header image and background color.

One thing Google does well is color coordination, though every form starts with “Google purple.” If you want to change that, select a primary color. The form will automatically suggest complementary accent colors, which will be applied to buttons, question underlining, and other small elements.

How to change and edit your Google Forms theme

You can make Google Forms look better by adjusting three elements: the header image, the colors, and the font. (For more information, check out our guides on how to customize Google Forms and how to use Google Forms.)

Selecting a header image

The header image sits at the top of your form and is the most visually impactful element. To bring your form closer to your brand, include your logo or brand imagery. The uploaded header image size must be 1600 x 400 pixels.

Changing colors and backgrounds

When you select a header image, Google automatically suggests an accent color and fills in the background color to match.

You can’t override accent colors, but you can use hex codes to change the background color to your brand colors. Just click the color swatch in the theme panel, and enter the code number.

Choosing fonts

Google Forms applies font styles in three areas:

  • Header
  • Questions
  • Text

You’re restricted to a preselected list of font pairings. You can’t upload or import your own typefaces. See how to change the font in Google Forms.

Remember: A Google Form will always look like a Google Form

No matter how much you tweak the header and colors, your form will always be recognizable as a Google Form. For businesses trying to make a strong, branded impression, the platform is too limited.

The lack of Google Forms CSS is a big reason why customization is limited. Unlike professional form builders, Google Forms doesn’t allow you to adjust the underlying structure of the form. The platform’s layout limitations make the problem worse. For example, questions always stack in a centered column. There’s no “Card” view allowing you to have one question appear at a time; this is now considered standard by many modern builders.
