All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! That’s why we blow off steam time to time with our culture of hackathons. In these events, our engineers are free to work on whatever they choose.
The goal on our recent hackathon was to improve our (not yet publicly released) API. Our engineers were allowed to work on any kind of project they choose, but there was a big constraint: They had to use Jotform API to store all data. They were not allowed to keep the data on a database or locally on the server. They were required to keep the data on Jotform database and use the Jotform API to access it.
The hackathon was a great success! Not only did we improve the Jotform API as we hoped, but also we came up with 4 great apps for Jotform users.
Today, we are releasing these 4 apps and a new site: Jotform Labs.
Submission Stream
View your recent form responses for all of your forms in a single page. It is basically a “twitter for your submissions”. When there is a new submission, it pops-up instantly.
Formalytics
An analysis tool for surveys. Let’s say you have a survey with many questions. How would you answer a question such as “How many percentage of female responders said they would purchase our product again”.
Quiz Builder
This is a tool for educators. Create simple quizzes for your students. What is great about this tool is that it has two modes: Self Assessment and Exam. On the former mode, students can instantly see if their answers are correct and why. On the second mode, the results are sent to the teacher for review.
Narrative Forms
Forms don’t have to look like each other. What if they look like the “fill-in-the-blank” questionnaires we filled in the school? Instead of top to bottom, you read them as a paragraph of text.
The apps are still pretty rough. They are still in the proof of concept stage. Depending on interest from Jotform users some of the apps might be improved and even integrated into the main Jotform site.
So, please share your feedback. Which app did you like most? Tell us how we can improve them. Our engineers will love to hear back from you!

Narrative Forms: If we could build this form and afterwards the .pdf file would look the same... this would be fantastic. We merge several hundreds file coming from the data in JotForm.
And what we still need is calculations! Please! That would make many lives so much easier!Thank you Guys! Jotform is the best!

QuizBuilder - I really want this to happen. Are you going ahead with it?
And what are the advantages of embedding Jotform forms in a WordPress.org website (as opposed to just building forms in WordPress)? Thanks!
