mainstages is an educational theater company that focuses on providing safe spaces for kids to express themselves, grow as individuals, and celebrate performing arts — all in the name of fostering positive social and emotional development.
The company started as a smaller theater group for summer camps in Pennsylvania and has since expanded to summer camps across the country, working out of a central hub in New York City.
Fifteen years ago, Matt Dorter, founder of mainstages, found Jotform through a free camp registration form template. Jotform’s camp template was easy to use, recommended a helpful blog post, and didn’t cost anything — perfect for any organization or business just getting started.
As mainstages grew as an organization, Dorter found that Jotform could offer the tools needed to scale over time.
“One of the best things about Jotform that’s really helped us scale our business and scale our growth is its integrations,” says Dorter. “The [Jotform for Salesforce integration] has been critical for us. Once somebody [sends] a quote to our website, that merges over to my contacts in Salesforce. And from there I can take them on the Salesforce journey.”
Dorter also employs Jotform’s Slack integration as part of mainstages’ operations. He notes that even if form notifications come in via email, he still finds it useful to get a little poke in Slack for visibility’s sake.

Useful data collection
mainstages stays organized by using Jotform for staff applications, site reports, surveys, quotes, and more.
Jotform is so integrated into everything I do,” says Dorter. “There would be no way for me to unmarry myself from it.

Jotform is proud to have been there for mainstages since the beginning, helping the organization provide educational theater to participants.
“More valuable than my amazing hosting skills is the ability that I can get staff to that place, I can understand the logistics, I can know the age and compare the information in the correct way. And Jotform is at the start of that. It’s sitting there collecting those pools of data and also professionalizing, legitimizing, and giving quality control to everything that we do,” says Dorter.
