Hi Bill,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. If the option to open the camera isn't available, you might need to check your permissions. If you have a form on your Jotform mobile app that contains a file upload field and you have not yet set your permissions on the app, this will prompt you asking to allow the app to use the camera. Here is an overview of the flow what happens:
- After building your form, you open it to be filled up:
- Next, a prompt will appear, you either have to choose whether you are permitting the app to use your camera just for once or every time you are using the app.
- Once the permission is given, you will see the camera as available for use
You can try this out and let us know how it goes. If this does not happen, you can let us know what device you are using and we'll check also on our end how it functions.
As soon as we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.
- After building your form, you open it to be filled up:

I tried on both Samsung Ultra and Samsung S20 FE and both are not working
after providing the app with permissions while using the app.
My concern is that it will not work on random phones...
Thanks

Hi Bill,
Thanks for getting back to us. We're sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. Can you tell us what's happening when accessed with those devices? Please make sure that the device's OS is up to date. This should be compatible with any device. If you encounter any issues with other devices, you can send it to us so we can investigate. Also, a workaround you can try is the Loom Video Recorder widget which only requires your loom account. You can check out this guide on How to Add the Loom Video Recorder to Your Form.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

blacktuskmarketingReplied on July 14, 2023 at 4:10 PMLoome only works with chrome browsers. And the third option wants
$100/month (for the other video recording brand widget you offer).
So unfortunately, there is no way to record video into a form...
With the file upload, I can take pictures, thats it. I accepted the app
properly and all that...dosnt work.
I design tech and websites for a living, I assure you it is not user error.
Can you have a look please?

Hi Bill,
Thanks for getting back to us. I tried taking a video on my Android device using the File Upload field and I was unable to replicate this issue. I was able to record a video and upload it on the File Upload Field. Check out the screenshots below:
Please also make sure to add file extensions on your File Upload field so that all types of video files can be uploaded on it. You can check out this guide on How to Create File Upload Forms.
Also, when you are trying to record a video using the File Upload field, what browser are you using? I tried using Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Opera, and everything was working.
Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, the screenshots were not attached. You need to upload the screenshots in the forum directly. We have a guide for that here. Also, make sure that the device permission is enabled in your settings to allow access to the camera of your device. Restarting your device and updating it may also help fix the issue. Also, please send us the link to your form so we can test it and investigate this further.
Let us know if you need any more help.
