    Hello,

One of our users, Chris, is trying to submit one of our "Assigned Forms" through the Jotform App but this dialog is forcing him to enable camera permissions. (See screenshot below)

He does not want to give Jotform Camera permissions.

This form can be filled without using any of the file/photo upload fields as they are all optional.

When he clicks "Okay, thanks!" it kicks him out of the form, back to the Assigned Forms menu.

Is there any way to use the form without enabling this permission?

    • OS: iOS 26.3.1(A)
    • Jotform App Version: 3.1.3

Hi matt, Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

Let me help you with that:

    1. Use the form in Jotform Mobile Forms with a Take Photo widget if you want users to capture images directly inside the app.
    2. Note that the File Upload element can include options to upload files, take photos, or record a video in the mobile app, so a camera permission prompt can appear when that element is present.
    3. Check whether the form includes any photo or video capture element that may require camera access, even if the upload field is optional.

From the information available here, I do not have a confirmed way to bypass that camera permission prompt for Assigned Forms in the app. I don't know this information and our support team will handle your request.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Matt,

Jotform's Take Photo widget requires camera access because it includes a built-in camera app that lets users take photos directly within the form. This widget needs permission to access the device's camera to function properly.

When using the Jotform Mobile App, the entire form may request camera permission if it contains the Take Photo widget, even if the photo upload is optional. This is because the app needs to ensure the widget can function if the user decides to use it.

Currently, there is no way to restrict camera access only to the widget and allow filling out the rest of the form without granting camera permission. If camera permission is denied, the form may block access to prevent errors with the widget.

Let us know if you have any questions.
