teeangel2005I'm creating a simple t-shirt order form. I need the total cost field to calculate the amounts in the subfield labeled "price". The AI assistant says it created the formula but it's not translating onto the live form. I need an actual person to help me fix this.

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Tamara,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Let me show you how to fix the total cost calculation for your t-shirt order form:
- In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
- Under the Widgets tab, drag and drop a Form Calculation widget below your Product List field where the prices are listed.
- In the widget settings on the right, click Add Field and select the Product List field or the subfield labeled "price" that you want to sum up.
- Save the widget settings. This will create a formula to calculate the total cost based on the prices entered.
To prevent accidental changes, you can hide the Form Calculation widget:
- Select the Form Calculation widget in Form Builder.
- Right-click on the Six Dots icon and choose Hide.
This will display the total cost correctly on your live form and in your Jotform Tables.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

teeangel2005The subfield is not listed. I'm not able to add it to the formula

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Tamara,
If the subfield labeled "price" is not listed in the Form Calculation widget when trying to add it to the formula, it usually means that the widget does not directly support selecting subfields from complex fields like Product Lists.
Here’s how you can handle this situation:
- Use the entire Product List field in the Form Calculation widget instead of trying to select the subfield. The Product List field automatically calculates the total price of all selected products, so adding this field to the calculation will give you the total cost.
- Check the Form Calculation widget options by clicking the wand icon on the widget and ensuring that the settings are configured correctly for numerical calculations.
- If you need to calculate based on individual subfields, consider using conditional logic with the Update/Calculate Field feature under the Settings > Conditions tab to perform calculations on specific fields or subfields and then sum those results in the Form Calculation widget.
This approach should help you get the total cost calculated correctly even if the subfield is not directly selectable.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any other help.

Jovito JotForm SupportHi Tamara,
I checked your form and it seems that you have use a Configurable List widget for your tshirt pricing. Unfortunately, you cannot directly use the Configurable List widget for live calculations in Jotform because it operates with a separate script, making it impossible to perform math on individual fields within the widget.
As an alternative, you can use the Purchase Order element to put all the tshirt designs and use a Configurable List widget to get the details of your Tshirt designs. With our Purchase Order element, you can list your products without using a payment integration. This means that people can submit the form without having to make a payment. Let's do it:
- Open your form in Form Builder and click on the Add Form Elements menu on the left side of the page.
- Under the Payment tab, search for Purchase Order and click on it to add it to your form.
- In the menu on the right, click the on Continue button at the bottom.
- Click on Create Product and enter your product's details, then click on Save at the bottom.
You can repeat the step 4 to add as many new products as you like. Don't forget that if you have already integrated your form with a payment gateway, you won't see Purchase Order in the Payments tab. But, you can change your existing payment gateway to a new one. Let me show you how:- Under the Payment tab, click on the Three Dots icon next to the Payment method you used and click on Switch to Another Gateway.
- Select Purchase Order, and click on Use Selection, then in the window that opens click on OK.
You can also check out our How to Create a Payment Form with Purchase Order guide for more information.Let us know if you need any more help.

teeangel2005Nothing I've tried is working. When I first created the form, this function was working. Now it's not. How do I speak with an actual person?

Jovito JotForm SupportHi Tamara,
This is human you're communicating with. I reviewed your form revisions and checked that you have setup the Configurable List widget for the Price field as a Number. This means that you can calculate the total cost based on whatever is entered in these fields. Check out the screencast below:
But, note that if you will allow the user to enter a value on the Price field, they will change it based on their desired value. So, I recommend using the Purchase Order element or the Product List element to achieve your requirement by following the steps above.Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
