jacobhenrycamilleHi,
We have a registration for an event we're running where submitters can select from a few different ticket types. Is there a way to cap the total number of tickets in each type using a widget. For example, we only have 60 VIP tickets and 30 regular tickets, which counts down every time a user selects a certain number of tickets.

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Jacob,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Let me help you with that:
To cap the total number of tickets in each type and have the count decrease as users select tickets, you can use Jotform's Inventory widget or the Ticket Purchases widget. These widgets allow you to set available quantities for each ticket type, and they automatically update the availability as users make their selections.
Here’s how you can set it up using the Inventory widget:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Element on the left side.
- Under the Widgets tab, search for the Inventory widget and add it to your form.
- Click the Wand icon on the widget to open its settings.
- Configure the widget settings: Enter the ticket type as the description, set the available quantity (e.g., 60 for VIP tickets, 30 for regular tickets), and choose the quantity input type (dropdown or number input).
- Customize error messages and labels as needed.
The widget will then automatically track and limit the number of tickets available for each type as users select them.
Alternatively, the Ticket Purchases widget lets you define multiple ticket types with quantities and limits in one widget, which might be more convenient for event ticketing.
Here are some helpful links to the widgets mentioned:
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Joeni JotForm SupportHi Jacob,
Unfortunately, the Ticket Purchases widget doesn’t support selecting multiple quantities of the same ticket type. Each option is treated as a single selection. If you need users to buy more than one of the same ticket, you’ll want to use the Inventory widget instead. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, click on the Add Element button and go to the Widgets tab.
- Now, search for the Inventory widget and add it to your form.
Take a look at the screencast of the result below: Let us know if you have any other questions.
