File Upload element: Form progress refreshes after uploading a file

The Basic Form Element "File Upload" is no longer working on my forms.

When I try to use the file upload, the entire form refreshes, causing all previously entered data to be lost, and the file never uploads. This issue is occurring on several forms. The file upload feature previously worked fine. I've checked and the element is configured correctly. Can you please help me investigate and resolve this issue?

Normally, more than 1 photo is uploaded at a time so I would prefer not to use the widget "Take Photo" nor the "File Uploader by UploadCare" widget which costs money.

    Hi Morgan,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

Regarding the issue with the Basic Form Element "File Upload" causing the entire form to refresh and losing previously entered data, this can sometimes be related to form cache or temporary data issues.

Let me help you with that:

    1. Clear your form cache: Go to your Workspace page, click on your Profile Picture/Avatar at the top-right, then select Settings to open your Account Settings page. On the right side of the Form Caches section, click on Clear Cache. This action often resolves issues related to forms not working as expected.
    2. Check your form configuration: Although you mentioned the element is configured correctly, double-check that no conflicting conditions or scripts are causing the form to refresh unexpectedly.
    3. Test the form in different browsers or devices: Sometimes browser extensions or settings can interfere with file uploads. Testing in a different environment can help isolate the issue.

If the problem persists after clearing the cache and testing, it might be necessary to investigate further, but clearing the cache is a safe and simple first step that often resolves such issues.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Morgan,

I tried testing on both a clone of your form and on the base form, but I did not see any behavior where uploading a picture in the "Photos/other files" file upload section cleared out the other fields. Can you share a quick screen recording of what’s happening so we can try to replicate it on our end? You can upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, or record with Loom and send us the link.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the reply! I uploaded a video of the error which occurs when I access the Form through the Jotform App designed on Jotform. This happens on my Android phone, and also on a Iphone. The link to view the video on Google Drive is visible here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/4pbwvkkDjjo9oLHh6

Podo's AI reccomendations did not repair the issue.

    Hi Morgan,

The screen recording helped us have a better understanding of the issue, and we noticed it's happening on a mobile device through a Jotform App you created. I've cloned the app and accessed it on my Android device. I followed the steps you shared from the screen recording but was unable to replicate the issue. You can refer to the screencast below:

I've cleared the caches of your forms on my end. If the same issue happens, will you allow us to test the original app and fill out the form?

Reach out to us if you need any more help.

We also have this issue on Android, where occassionally the form "randomly" refreshes and users loose their data, it may be if they are returning to change data or adding a file. Was there a solution to this using a mobile phone and running the jotform... is there a way users ask to "stop a spontaneous refresH" to avoid loosing data entered? Thankyou for advising.

    Hi Morgan,

We don't have any option for users to stop a spontaneous refresh of the form. Since we can't replicate the issue on our end, it appears to be device specifc so we suggest checking any settings of the device that might be causing this.
