Autoresponder Email: Send Later Date change not updating, email sent on original date

Hi! I changed the date for the "Send Later Date" option (under Advanced Tab for an Autoresponder Email) from one date to a later date. The edit was made weeks prior to both the original Send Later Date and the new Send Later Date.

The Autoresponder Email was sent to form responders only on the original date and nothing was sent the new date.

Is there something I need to do differently to get a change to the Send Later Date option to stick?

    Thank you!

    Hi Meghan,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

Regarding your issue with changing the "Send Later Date" for an Autoresponder Email, it appears that the autoresponder email was sent only on the original scheduled date and not on the updated later date.

Here’s how to ensure your changes to the "Send Later Date" stick and work as expected:

    1. Open your form in Form Builder and go to the Settings tab.
    2. Click on the Emails tab on the left side to see your email templates.
    3. Edit the Autoresponder Email by clicking the pencil icon next to it.
    4. Go to the Advanced tab within the Autoresponder Email settings.
    5. Set or update the "Send Later Date" to your desired future date.
    6. Click Save to apply your changes.

Important to note: The "Send Later Date" option schedules the email to be sent at that future date based on the submission time. If the original send date has already passed, the email will not be resent automatically on the new date for past submissions. The scheduling applies to new submissions made after the date change.

If you want to resend the autoresponder email to previous submissions on the new date, you may need to manually resend those emails or use other methods like exporting submissions and sending emails externally.

Make sure you have saved the changes properly and that the new date is set well in the future relative to the current date and submission times.

Let us know if you need further assistance with this.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Thank you! This does not work for submissions that were made prior to changing the "Send Later Date".

    For example:

I create form on 2/1/2026 with an Autoresponder Email with Send Later Date of 3/15/2026 with content "X".

A person registers (creates submission) on 3/1/2026.

On 3/2/2026, I revise the Autoresponder Email, changing the Send Later Date to 3/30/2026, and changing the content to "Y". This is done after the submission was created but before the original Send Later Date.

On 3/15/2026, the person who had already registered (on 3/1/2026) receives the original Autoresponder Email (old Send Later Date of 3/15/2026, old content "X"; i.e., the original version of the Autoresponder Email). They receive nothing on 3/30/2026 and therefore never receive content "Y".

However, someone with a submission date that falls after the date the Autoresponder Email was edited would receive the new Autoresponder Email on the new Send Later Date.

    Hi Meghan,

As of right now, this is intended behavior. The emails are essentially queued up the moment the user hits submit, and changing the send later date only affects users who submit the form after the change was made. I understand this may not be intuitive, and I would be happy to submit a feature request for a dedicated "change send later date for past and future submissions" button. Do you want me to do so?

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Brandon. It would be great to have an option to change a send later date for past & future submissions, if that can be requested, thank you!

Even if my use-case is peculiar (where I want changes apply to all submissions), it does seem like it could be a problem more generally that it seems that it's impossible to even edit an error in the content an autoresponder email (let alone the send-date) once a given version of it has already been assigned to a submission. (Unless I misunderstand?)

However, just knowing that this is the behavior will allow me to work around it for now! Much appreciated - thank you!
