    Hello!

I have a table I am already working off of and want to create entries directly in the table, and then send the entry to an email address to have them update the entry. I was using the action button "Send Form" for this which I liked because it auto populated their answers. However when they submit the form, it creates a NEW line and I want them to just update their answer and have it be in the same line. How do I do this?

    Thank you,

    Melina

    Hi Melina,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

    Here’s how to do it:

    1. Use Request Update in Jotform Tables instead of Send Form if you want the recipient to update an existing entry.
    2. Add a new column in Jotform Tables, then go to Buttons and select Request Update.
    3. Set the recipient for the update request, add an optional message, and create the column.

Request Update emails the entry’s edit link, which is meant for updating the same submission instead of creating a new line.

If you use Send Form, it sends a form for a new submission. Even with prefilled answers, it is still designed to create a new entry when submitted.

You can also edit entries directly in Tables by clicking a cell and typing, or by opening an entry and using Edit Entry if you want to resubmit changes.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Melina,

In addition, you can try the Manual Prefill feature. You can prefill the form before sending it to the user to update and resubmit. It's easy to manually prepopulate a form before sending it to a user. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, click on Publish in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

    2. Under the Prefill tab on the left side of the screen, click on Manual Prefill.

    3. Then, click on the Add a New Prefill button.

    4. Partially fill out the form, and then click on Create on the top-right side of the page.

    5. On the right side of the generated link, click on the Three Dots icon, and then click on Copy URL or Send Invitation.

    6. Then, in the Send Invitation window, enter the user's email address in the Recipients field.

    7. Finally, enter a message in the Message section, and then click on Send Invitation
