I'm trying to use conditional logic to determine when a form will show a link to an overflow message. Right now its trying to show the message based on the users response - but I need it to show when the quantity is empty. Is this something the form can do or would I have to monitor it manually.

    Hi Pipefitters537,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

You can use conditional logic in Jotform to show a message or link when a quantity field is empty. To do this, you would set up a condition that checks if the quantity field is empty and then show the overflow message or link accordingly.

    Here’s how to do it:

    1. Go to Settings in your Form Builder.
    2. Select Conditions on the left panel.
    3. Add a new Show/Hide Field condition.
    4. Set the condition to check if your quantity field Is Empty.
    5. Set the action to show the overflow message or link field.

This way, the message will only appear when the quantity is empty, without needing manual monitoring.

Note: If you are using the Product List element, it does not allow quantity to be zero or empty by design. In that case, consider using the Inventory widget which supports zero or empty quantities and works well with conditional logic.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Nope. Now it shows the field even though the quantity is full because 'empty' stands for the value imput by the user not the quantity. is there a way to set conditional logic based on the total quantity.

    Hi Pipefitters537,

Conditional logic in Jotform can be set to act based on calculated values such as total quantity, but it requires using the Update/Calculate Field condition type to perform calculations or check totals.

Let me help you with that:

    1. Go to Settings in your Form Builder.
    2. Select Conditions on the left panel.
    3. Add a new Update/Calculate Field condition.
    4. Set the condition to calculate the total quantity or check the quantity field's value.
    5. Use the calculated value in a Show/Hide Field condition to show the overflow message when the total quantity meets your criteria (e.g., equals zero).

This approach lets you base your conditional logic on the actual quantity value rather than just user input presence.

If you are using widgets like Inventory or Ticket Purchases, you can also incorporate their values into calculations for more advanced logic.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Pipefitters537,

After checking your forms, it looks like you have an Inventory widget. Would you like to use conditions based on the remaining quantity available?

This feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, so we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
