    Hi!

We have disabled the "Require Login to View Uploaded Files" but for some reason, we are still being required to login. Can I confirm what should we do with this? We do not have HIPAA and I have already clear cache, try to use incognito to open those files but i'm still being directed to login.

    Please help.

Thanks for the details, and for already trying cache and incognito.

Here’s how to fully disable the login requirement for uploaded files (just to be sure it’s done from the correct place):

    • Go to your Workspace page and click your Profile Picture/Avatar in the top-right.
    • Click Settings to open your Account Settings in a new tab.
    • Go to the Security tab on the left.
    • In the Verification prompt, click Send Verification Code.
    • Check the email linked to your Jotform account, copy the Verification Code, and enter it in the prompt (then click Verify if needed).
    • Under the Privacy section, uncheck the box for Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files.

You can also review this guide for reference: How to Disable Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files.

If that option is already unchecked and you’re still being asked to log in, please share:

    • A sample file link that’s asking for login (you can mask sensitive parts), and
    • Whether this happens for all forms/files or just a specific form.

Once I have that, I can help narrow down what’s causing the redirect to the login page.

    Hi Kimmi,

To prevent the system from asking you to log in before viewing or downloading submission attachments, you can disable the requirement to login to view uploaded files. It only takes a few simple steps. Here’s how:

    1. On your Workspace page, click on your Avatar/Profile Image in the top-right corner of the screen.
    2. In the dropdown menu that appears, click on Settings.
    3. Next, click on the Security tab on the left side of the page.
    4. Click on Send Verification Code.
    5. In the confirmation window, enter the authentication code sent to your email and click Verify.
    6. Now, uncheck the box next to Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files. That’s it. You’re done.

If you continue to experience the login requirement for all files and forms after following these steps, please share a sample file link (you can mask sensitive parts by replacing them with asterisks or similar) so I can help investigate further.

    Hi Kimmi,

To mask sensitive parts of a file link, you can replace specific details such as unique IDs, usernames, or any personal information with asterisks (*) or generic placeholders. For example, if your file link looks like this:

    https://www.jotform.com/uploads/username/1234567890/filename.pdf

You can mask it by changing it to:

    https://www.jotform.com/uploads/*/**/filename.pdf

This way, I can still see the structure of the link without exposing any sensitive information.

Please try sharing a masked link like this, and I’ll be able to help you investigate the login issue further.

    Hi Kimmi,

Yes, that masked link format looks good. Using asterisks (**) to replace sensitive parts like unique IDs or usernames while keeping the rest of the link intact is exactly what I need to help investigate the issue.

Please share a few sample masked links like that where you are being asked to log in, and I’ll assist you further in resolving the login requirement problem.

    Hi Kimmi,

Thank you for sharing the masked link. Since this issue happens with all files and forms, and you have already disabled the "Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files" option, the next step is to check if there are any other settings or restrictions causing the login prompt.

Could you please confirm if you have any form-level privacy settings enabled, such as password protection or submission access restrictions? Also, if possible, share a screenshot of the form's privacy or access settings page.

This will help me better understand the situation and provide more specific guidance.

    Hi Kimmi,

From the image description you provided, it appears you are on the Security tab of your Account Settings where several privacy-related options are listed. The key points are:

    • The option "Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files" is currently unchecked, which is correct to allow file access without login.
    • However, "Require entry to see submissions" and "Require log-in to view submissions" are checked, which means users need to log in to view form submissions.
    • There is a verification step required to make changes on this Security tab.

This suggests that while file access login requirement is disabled, the submission access still requires login, which might be causing the login prompt when trying to access files linked to submissions.

Could you please confirm if you want to allow public access to submissions as well? If so, you may need to uncheck those submission-related login requirements.

Let me know if you need guidance on adjusting those settings.

I tried to untick the Require log-in to view submissions and Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files together but the issue persisted. Do i need to untick them all?

    Hi Kimmi,

Since you have already unticked both Require Log-in to View Submissions and Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files but the issue persists, it is important to ensure that all related login requirements are disabled.

In addition to those two options, please check if there are any other submission access restrictions or form-level privacy settings such as password protection or expiration settings that might require login or limit access.

Also, verify that the changes you made were saved properly and that you completed the verification step when making changes in the Security tab.

If everything seems correct and the issue continues, please share a screenshot of your form's privacy or access settings page so I can help you identify any other possible causes.

Let me know if you need guidance on checking these settings.

    Hi Kimmi,

From the image description you provided earlier, it looks like you are on the Security tab of your Account Settings where you can make changes to privacy options.

When you make changes such as unchecking the boxes for "Require Log-in to View Uploaded Files" or "Require Log-in to View Submissions," you need to complete the verification step by clicking Send Verification Code, entering the code sent to your email, and clicking Verify. This verification step is required to save your changes.

Once verified, the changes should be saved automatically. To confirm, you can refresh the page and check if the boxes remain unchecked.

If the boxes are still checked after refreshing, it means the changes were not saved properly, and you may need to repeat the verification and saving steps.

Let me know if you need further help with this process.

    Hi Kimmi,

Could you share the email address for your Jotform account? The email address you used to open this support ticket isn't linked to any Jotform account. We'd like to confirm if you have a verified Jotform account. With the latest updates on verified accounts, the Require log-in to view uploaded files is enabled in your Security settings.

As verified accounts can collect sensitive information under our Terms of Use, certain security settings are required in line with our policies, applicable data protection standards, and relevant regulations. For this reason, these settings cannot be disabled. If you need to share your documents or submissions with others for your operational needs, you can share the access link or invite users via email to your Tables/Inbox.

When we hear back from you, we’ll be ready to move forward.
