    Hi Matt,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. This error typically means that the API credentials connecting your form to Authorize.net are no longer valid. Since the form was working before, the most common reason is that the Transaction Key was regenerated in Authorize.net. When a new Transaction Key is created, the previous one becomes invalid, which causes existing integrations like Jotform to stop working.

To resolve this, try generating a new Transaction Key in your Authorize.net account and then update the API Login ID and Transaction Key in your Jotform Authorize.net connection. After saving the changes, test the form again to see if the issue is resolved.

Keep us updated and let us know if you need any more help.

What triggers the need for a new transaction key?

    Hi Matt,

The need for a new Transaction Key in Authorize.net usually arises when the existing key is regenerated or replaced. This can happen for security reasons or if the key was compromised. When a new Transaction Key is created, the old one becomes invalid, which causes any existing integrations, like your Jotform connection, to stop working until updated with the new key. To summarize, a new Transaction Key is triggered by:

    • Regeneration of the Transaction Key in your Authorize.net account.
    • Security updates or precautionary measures.
    • Compromise or suspected compromise of the existing key.

After generating the new key, you need to update your Jotform Authorize.net integration with the new API Login ID and Transaction Key to restore functionality.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

understood on the remedy, but how do i know when the transaction key needs to be updated? is there a notification? i would hate to think that the only way i know is when customers try to process transactions and those transactions fail.

    Hi Matt,

On Jotform's end, there's no notification that the credentials in the Authorize.net payment integration need to be updated. It's true that you can only know if the update is needed if you run into an error. What I suggest is to contact Authorize.net support and ask them how often users need to check the credentials or generate new ones to avoid interruptions or errors. You can try reaching them through this link.
