CharmantUSAHello. I created a smart .pdf form and when you type in the field, it just transfers the word "yes" to the pdf form. i can't figure out why or how to fix it.

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Keith,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Creating a form by uploading a PDF is easy. Let me show you how to do it:
- On your Workspace page, click on Create on the top-left side of the page.
- Select Form from the assets, and then click on Smart PDF Form.
- In Smart PDF Forms, click on Upload Document, and then select the PDF you want to convert to a form, or just drag and drop the PDF into the white upload area.
Sometimes the fields automatically created in the PDF file end up in the wrong place. If that happens, you’ll need to move and resize them. Check out the screencast below to see how it’s done:
If some fields aren’t added automatically, you can manually add them to your form, and then match it to the PDF on the right side of the page.
That's it. Once you set everything up, when the form is filled, it will automatically fill your PDF file. Check out the screencast below to see how it'll work:
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Keith,
Since the previous information did not resolve your issue, here are some additional steps you can try to fix the problem where typing in a field always transfers the word "yes" to your PDF form:
- Check the field properties: Make sure the field in your Smart PDF Form is not set with a default or pre-filled value of "yes".
- Review field mapping: Verify that the form field is correctly mapped to the corresponding field in the PDF. Incorrect mapping can cause unexpected values to appear.
- Remove and re-add the field: Try deleting the problematic field and adding it again manually to ensure it is properly linked.
- Test with a new PDF: Upload a simple PDF with a similar field to see if the issue persists, which can help determine if the problem is with the PDF or the form setup.
- Clear cache and refresh: Sometimes clearing your browser cache or refreshing the page can resolve display or syncing issues.
If these steps do not fix the problem, please provide more details or screenshots of your form and PDF setup, so we can assist you further.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
