I've worked for several days on a form and now I find out that I can't encrypt the data. I work for a bank. The information in the database would have to be encrypted. Is there any way to just delete the data immediately instead of it residing in the cloud that would perhaps work for now??

    Thank you,

    Hi Susan,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

Regarding your concern about encrypting form data and immediate deletion of data from the cloud, here is what you need to know:

Form Encryption: Jotform offers form encryption which provides end-to-end encryption for your form submissions. This means data is encrypted when users submit it and stored encrypted on Jotform servers. Only you with the encryption password can access the data. However, enabling encryption disables some features like autoresponder emails, integrations (except payment gateways), PDF downloads, and more.

Data Storage and Security: Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud and AWS servers with strong security measures, including 256-bit SSL encryption during transmission and encrypted storage at rest. Jotform also performs regular security audits and penetration tests.

Immediate Data Deletion: While Jotform does not specifically mention an automatic immediate deletion option upon submission, you can manually delete submissions from your account anytime to remove data from the cloud. This can be done through your Jotform Tables or Inbox where you manage submissions.

If you need to ensure no data resides in the cloud after submission, you would need to set up a process to delete submissions immediately after they are received. Unfortunately, automatic immediate deletion upon submission is not a standard feature.

For enhanced control over data residency and security, Jotform Enterprise users can choose local data residency centers and customize security settings.

Please let me know if you need guidance on how to enable form encryption or how to delete submissions manually.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Susan,

While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Now, it's also not possible to automatically delete the submissions immediately, but you can enable the Autodelete submission feature, which allows you to set up a deletion period of a particular form's submissions. Let me walk you through it:

    1. In Form Builder, in the navigation at the top, click on Settings.

    2. In the Form Settings menu, click on the Show More Options button and Enable Auto-Delete Submissions.

    3. If you have an existing Workflow it will prompt you a warning, that it will not work if you have Autodelete feature enabled, but you can proceed if you don't have a workflow for that form.

    4. Finally, select a deletion period and click on Yes, Delete button to confirm the changes.

Keep in mind that, autodeleted submissions in the trash will be purged or deleted permanently after 30 days.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.
