ops_dirI am trying to generate a documentation summary field that combines static text with multiple field values (name, date, position, rating).
This can be done with a "Paragraph" field. The issue I'm encountering is:
- Paragraph fields allow dynamic fields, but cannot be referenced as a source in other fields.
- Calculation/dynamic fields can be referenced by other fields, but cannot concatenate text and include dynamic fields like a paragraph.
- There appears to be no field type that supports both dynamic text composition AND reuse as a field value.
My goal is to:
Generate a sentence like:
"On [Date], [Name] received an overall [Rating] on their [Position] test."
And then reuse that generated sentence in another field or workflow.
Is there any supported way to concatenate text + field values into a reusable field value?

John JotForm SupportHi Will,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. You can use the Paragraph field to combine static text with dynamic field values by inserting field tags (e.g., {Name}, {Date}, {Position}, {Rating}) directly into the paragraph content. This allows you to generate sentences like what you have mentioned above.
However, the limitation is that Paragraph fields cannot be referenced as a source in other fields or workflows. They are great for displaying dynamic summaries but not for reusing their generated text elsewhere.
For calculation or dynamic fields, you can use Update/Calculate Field conditional logic to concatenate text and field values, but this only works with numeric calculations or text concatenation in limited ways and cannot include rich text or paragraph content. You can follow these guides here on How to Insert Text into a Field Conditionally and How to Manipulate Text with Conditions and Calculations.
Currently, there is no single field type in Jotform that supports both dynamic text composition with static text and reuse of that generated sentence as a field value in other fields or workflows.
While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.

ops_dirHi John,
Thanks for the response. This one should be an easy add, or at the very least, enabling a paragraph to be referenced by other fields would solve this. Should be an extremely easy change with huge benefit.

Jerlan JotForm SupportHi Will,
We understand how valuable it would be to have the ability to reference Paragraph fields in other fields or workflows, or to have a field type that supports both dynamic text composition and reuse of that generated content.
Our development team has already received your request and is aware of the potential benefits this enhancement could bring. While we cannot guarantee an immediate timeline for its implementation, your input helps us prioritize features that matter most to our users.
We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated in this thread if there are any developments regarding this capability.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
