I am finding some accessibility issues with the HIPAA form badge. The text contrast on a white background is not sufficient. The badge also renders as an anchor tag with no href.

Mary Eden JotForm SupportHi Dave,
Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the accessibility issues you found with the HIPAA form badge, specifically about the insufficient text contrast on a white background and the badge rendering as an anchor tag without an href attribute.
Regarding the HIPAA Compliance badge, it is automatically added to forms in HIPAA-compliant Jotform accounts to indicate that the form meets the strict privacy standards required by HIPAA. This badge is important for reassuring users that their sensitive health information is protected.
But, if you find the text contrast insufficient for accessibility, or if the badge's anchor tag lacks an href, these are valid concerns that affect usability and compliance with accessibility standards. Currently, the HIPAA badge is designed to appear in specific locations depending on your form layout (Classic or Card form), and it is rendered as an anchor tag for linking purposes.
Unfortunately, the badge's appearance and structure are standardized to maintain compliance and consistency. If you prefer to remove the HIPAA Compliance badge from your form, you can do so by following these steps:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
- Then, click on Show More Options.
- Lastly, scroll down and turn off the Show HIPAA Badge option.
Keep in mind that it is highly recommended to keep the HIPAA badge visible if you are collecting healthcare information, as it assures your respondents that their data is protected under HIPAA regulations. For improving accessibility overall, Jotform provides options to enable Form Accessibility, which checks for issues like color contrast and other accessibility warnings. You can easily enable form accessibility to improve usability for all users. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
- Then, click on Show More Options, scroll down to Form Accessibility, and set it to Enabled.
- Now, tick the Show Accessibility Badge on Form box.
