Regarding your issue with the Form Calculation widget and the absence of an IF button, the widget itself does not have a dedicated IF button. Instead, you can use conditional logic with the Update/Calculate Field feature in Jotform's Settings to perform conditional calculations or insert text based on conditions.
Here’s how you can handle conditional calculations:
- Go to Settings in your Form Builder.
- Select Conditions from the left menu.
- Add a new Update/Calculate Field condition.
- Set the condition (IF) and then set the action (DO) to calculate a field’s value using your formula, which can include nested IF statements.
In the Form Calculation widget, you can manually type IF statements in the formula editor, like if({Field} = value, result1, result2). The widget supports nested IF functions, but you need to type them manually as there is no dedicated IF button.
If you want to create complex conditional logic, using the Update/Calculate Field condition is often more flexible and user-friendly.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Kamal JotForm DeveloperHi Kelley,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. The Form Calculation Widget is great for calculating based on inputted fields. If you are looking to conditionally calculate fields you can do so by using the Update/Calculate Field conditional logic. Here's how:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen, click on Settings.
- Click on Conditions on the left side of the screen.
- Next, select Update/Calculate Field condition.
4. Set up your conditions, then click on Save.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

stevemarkovickGot stuck on something similar before, and the confusing part is expecting a visible IF button when it’s actually handled differently inside the widget logic. Once I realized it’s more about structuring conditions manually, things clicked. Digging into conditional formulas guide made a big difference for me, especially understanding how inputs are evaluated behind the scenes
