I found online that it is not possible to export a blank pdf from the PDF Editor. I'd like to know if that is true, and if it is, why? I would like to be able to create BOTH a digital form for service people that use tablets, AND a blank pdf for service people who prefer to fill them out by hand.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

Regarding your question about exporting a blank PDF from the PDF Editor, it is possible to download a fillable PDF version of your form that can be used digitally or printed for hand-filling. Here's how it works:

    - You can download a fillable PDF version of your form from the Workspace page or directly from the Form Builder by using the PDF tab under the Publish section.

    - The PDF Editor allows you to customize the PDF layout of your form and then download it as a fillable PDF.

    - This fillable PDF can be used digitally on tablets or printed as a blank form for manual filling.

However, some widgets and certain elements may not be supported in the fillable PDF format because they rely on scripts that cannot run in PDFs. For those cases, you might need to use alternative compatible fields.

So, you can create both a digital form for tablet use and a blank PDF for hand-filling by downloading the fillable PDF version of your form and printing it blank.

Let me know if you want detailed steps on how to download or customize the fillable PDF.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

I don't want it populated with dummy text.

    Hi Steve,

Regarding your concern about the PDF being populated with dummy text, when you download the PDF from PDF Editor, it should not include any dummy or placeholder text by default. The PDF you download will reflect the form fields as they are set up, but without any pre-filled or dummy data.

If you are seeing dummy text, it might be due to the way the form fields or PDF template are configured. You can customize the PDF layout in PDF Editor to ensure no default or sample text appears.

To have a truly blank PDF for printing or hand-filling, simply download the PDF from PDF Editor without submitting any data in the form. This PDF will be blank and ready for manual use.

If you want, I can guide you on how to customize the PDF Editor layout to remove any unwanted text or placeholders.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Steve,

To ensure the dummy text disappears when you download the PDF from PDF Editor, you need to remove or clear any placeholder or default text from the form fields in the PDF Editor before downloading.

    Here’s how to do it:

    1. Open PDF Editor for your form.
    2. Select each form field that contains dummy or placeholder text.
    3. Click the Gear icon to open the field settings.
    4. Clear any default or placeholder text from the settings.
    5. Save your changes and then download the PDF again.

This will give you a truly blank PDF without any dummy text when you download it.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
