crystalcleartravelHow do I add gratuity to my form for their purchased items?
-
Podo: Support SpecialistHi Becky,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Let me help you with that:
You can add a gratuity line to your form by using the Purchase Order element if you want to list products without collecting payments or integrate it with a payment gateway. Here's how to do it:
- Open your form in Form Builder and click on the Add Form Elements menu on the left side of the page.
- Under the Payment tab, search for Purchase Order and click on it to add it to your form.
- In the menu on the right, click the Continue button at the bottom.
- Click on Create Product and enter your gratuity as a product (for example, "Gratuity" with a fixed amount or percentage), then click on Save.
You can add multiple products or gratuity options this way. If your form is already integrated with a payment gateway, you may need to switch to Purchase Order first to add this element.
For more detailed steps and visuals, you can also check out the How to Create a Payment Form with Purchase Order guide.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Eliza Enterprise SupportHi Becky,
Should the gratuity be the buyer's defined amount? If yes, you need to use a basic element to list your products, such as the Multiple Choice element, as adding an item with a custom amount to the Product List element is currently not possible. I can walk you through the steps. Is this the form you're working on? If so, let me walk you through it:
1. In Form Builder, click on Add Element button in the upper-left corner of the page.
2. Next, on the Form Elements menu, select Multiple Choice under the Basic tab.
3. Add a label and the list of items.
Next, let's assign Calculation Values to each item/product, which is equivalent to their prices. Let's do it:1. Click on the Gear icon to the right of the Multiple Choice field.
2. Next, on the Multiple Choice Properties menu, go to the Options tab.
3. Then, toggle Calculation Values to On position and assign their values or prices.
Now, we need to add a Form Calculation widget to get the total amount of the selected items. Here's how:1. While still in Form Builder, click on the Add Element button again.
2. Next, go to the Widgets tab and select Form Calculation.
3. On the Form Calculation Widget menu that opens on the right, click on the Add Field button.
4. Then, search for the Multiple Choice element you just added and click on Save at the bottom.
Lastly, let's modify the Product List so that the total amount comes from the Form Calculation widget. But before doing this, I recommend downloading your submissions first to prevent losing any data. You can easily download your data from Jotform Tables as a CSV, Excel, or PDF file. Let me show you how:- On your Workspace page, click on the form with the data you want to download, and click on Submissions on the top-left side of the page.
- In Tables that opens, in the upper-right side of the page, click on Download All.
- Now, select Download as CSV, Excel, or PDF to download your data.
Now, let's modify the Product List. Here’s what to do:1. Go back to your form's Form Builder page and click on the Credit Card icon in the upper-right corner.
2. Next, on the Payment Properties menu, select User Defined Amount from the Payment Type dropdown.
3. Now, click on the Coins icon to the right side of the Product List field.
4. Then, on the User Defined Amount Properties menu, under the General tab, select Calculation from the Get Price From dropdown.
Give it a go and let us know if anything else comes up. -
crystalcleartravelThis doesn't work ...and now my form is not working again! I HAD products for people to purchase as well. And now I have lost them for a third time. I need the gratuity to be within the products for sale.

Keenly JotForm SupportHi Becky,
If you’re selling product items, you can add each gratuity option to your Product List as its own product item and place them under a separate category. You can easily create categories in the Product List element from the Form Builder. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, click on your Product List field, click on the Wand icon (If you have a Product List without a payment gateway, the icon will be a Shopping Cart icon).
- In the menu on the right side of the page, click on Settings.
- Toggle Enable Categories to the On position and enter your category name, and click on Add.
- Under the Add button, click on the Add Page button and select the products that you want to include in this category.
You can add as many categories as you want by repeating the steps. Check out the screencast below to see how it'll look when you add two categories: You can also check out our How to Add Product Categories to Payment Fields guide for more information.Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
