Jotform submissions not firing with Mailchimp integration due to birthday field error

I am experiencing an issue where in a few isolated cases, my Jotform submissions are not firing with my Mailchimp integration, and I don't know why. The problem seems related to the birthday field. The error message I see is: "MMERGE7: Please enter a month (01-12) and a day (01-31)". I believe this field is a birthday field. What confuses me is that looking at a submission that did go through successfully, the date information is the same as a submission that didn't go through successfully. The birthday field is successfully mapped as not required in Mailchimp already. In Mailchimp, I can confirm that the birthday is explicitly set to birthday, not a generic date, and its default value is empty. There is no option to remove the year, so I can't do that. Unfortunately, I can't use an alternative option because I need to use the Mailchimp birthday field to trigger a birthday automation when that field is filled. The submission ID that did sync is 6501774010226336101, and the one that didn't is 6501202703508672500. The form URL is https://form.jotform.com/coolchoir/yyc-april-reregistration.

Can you please help me understand why it says that these submissions are not firing on the integration with Mailchimp. Yet when you click on the submissions that have failed, a month and day was in fact entered, and it's not showing blank. So why is it telling me that I need to please enter a month and a day in these fields when there is already one there?

    Hi Jamie,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I checked your submissions, and I found that 6501774010226336101 doesn't have data for birthday. Since the field is not required, the user can skip it and submit the form. But if your Mailchimp account requires it, it may cause an error in the integration.

Regarding with 6501202703508672500, can you try to manually push the data via Tables? It’s easy to set up the Send Files Action Button in Jotform Tables. Let me show you how:

    1. In Jotform Tables, click on Add on the left of the last column header.

    2. Then, in the Buttons tab of the pop-up menu, select Send Files, then click on Next.

    3. Type a label in the Enter a Column Name field, click on Next, and then select your integration.

    4. Finally, click on Create Column.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, thanks so much for your helpful response. First off, I've been into my MailChimp settings, and I can tell you that the birthday field is set as not required, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry, I need you to clarify what the whole OneDrive file integration is and what its purpose is before I go ahead and do it, please? How will it help me?

    Thanks

    Hi Jamie,

The demo shows a OneDrive integration but you can use the same step to add an action button for your MailChimp integration. Take a look at the screencast below to see my results: Jotform submissions not firing with Mailchimp integration due to birthday field error Image 1 Screenshot 20 Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

can you please explain to me what the difference is between the first video you sent, where I'm using the Send Files button, and the second video you sent, where I'm sending the Send Data button? I'm confused. Thanks

Also, can you explain to me what the difference is between using a MailChimp integration as part of creating a send data button in the submissions list and the integration that I already have set up under the integration section of the settings in the form? What's the benefit of having both in place? Aren't they doing the same thing?

    Hi Jamie,

The first video included in my initial reply serves only as a reference for adding a button to the tables. Since you're using the Mailchimp integration, you will be adding a button using the Send Data to Other App option.

The Mailchimp integration in the form’s settings automatically sends submission data to your Mailchimp audience every time someone fills out the form, making it a hands-off, real-time process. In contrast, the Send Data to Other App button is a manual tool that allows you to send or resend specific entries whenever you choose. While both use the same integration, they differ in how they’re triggered—automatic versus manual.

Reach out again if you have any other questions.

Okay I've received another submission tonight through jotform that did not go through to Mailchimp. Again it seems to be something to do with the date field causing the problem because when you look at the Actions log, it's highlighting the MMERGE7 field As the issue is saying there is some problem with the date that has been input even though it's working fine in most cases.

Meanwhile I have tried the steps in the previous help from you about creating a send data form. I tried to re-send the data for the latest failed submission but it didn't work and nothing happened. Sorry I need some more help please. Thanks.

    Hi Jamie,

I checked your integration logs and I noticed that, submissions that were successfully sent to Mailchimp didn't have the Birthdate filled, and those with the errors have the Birthdate field, filled.

It looks like the error has something to do with the Birthdate field format. As per checking online, using yyyy-mm-dd is the most recommended for date-type merge fields in Mailchimp. Let me walk you through on how to change your Birthdate field's format:

    1. In Form Builder, select the Birthdate field and click on the Gear icon.

    2. Next, in the Birthdate Properties panel on the right, under the General tab, update the Date Format to yyyymmdd.

You can run a test submission after that, to confirm it works.

Sorry I don't believe this is causing the issue. I have an identical setup and identical integration in an almost identical form that was working flawlessly from January to March here https://form.jotform.com/coolchoir/yyc-january-reregistration so why is this one working perfectly please but the latest one isn't? Thanks

    Hi Jamie,

You're right. I cloned your form and the current date format is working. But do make sure the format of the Birthdate field and its field type, matches the Birthday field in Mailchimp. Also, I'd suggest removing the integration and set it up again. This usually helps with issues, where integrations don't work. Let me walk you through it:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigational bar at the top, click on Settings.

    2. In the menu on the left, click on Integrations.

    3. Next, select Mailchimp Integration and click on the existing action's Three-dots icon.

    4. Finally, click on Delete action and Yes, Delete to confirm.

After that, connect your Mailchimp account again, and remap all the necessary fields back.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi

But the integration IS working For most of the submissions, however, once in a while it doesn't work. I will try deleting the integration and setting it up again but I can swear 95% of my life this will not solve the issue....
