traderformsHi there Development team
I understand that we can specify a folder for each respondent (which we do) but it would be great if we could also specify a file name prefix and/or suffix for each question.
Use case:
We need to collect a number of files from applicants to trade at an event that we run. We do this using a Google Drive integration. Most people don't have any particular naming convention for their files - many filenames are determined by the camera that took a photo, or the company website that documents are downloaded from.
We have multiple questions that each ask for multiple images, and multiple questions that ask for documents (PDFs). It would be great to be able to assign a prefix to filenames to help us identify which files are which in Google Drive without having to go to the Jotform table to see which column the thumbnail is in. That way, instead of P2345874.jpg in Google Drive, we could see Logo-P2345874.jpg and know what that image was intended to be ... or PLI-Download (1).pdf instead of Download (1).pdf and know that this is the Public Liability Insurance certificate that we asked for.
I know that we can rename them once we have them, but automatically assigning prefixes (or suffixes, which would be more suitable in some cases) would give us better consistency (not to mention the ability to search for all PLI documents, for instance, knowing that the naming convention will be reliably consistent).
Thank you for considering this enhanced functionality.

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Julie,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Regarding your request to specify a file name prefix or suffix for uploaded files in the Google Drive integration, currently Jotform allows you to specify the folder name and create subfolders for each submission. However, there is no built-in feature to automatically assign custom prefixes or suffixes to the filenames of uploaded files for each question.
You can rename PDFs generated by Jotform using the PDF Editor to assign custom file names, but this does not apply to uploaded files themselves in the Google Drive integration.
Your suggestion to have automatic filename prefixes or suffixes for uploaded files to improve organization and searchability in Google Drive is a valuable enhancement idea. While this feature is not available now, your feedback will be considered by the development team for future improvements.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Mary Eden JotForm SupportHi Julie,
While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
