    Hi James,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. From what you described, it seems there are limitations and some challenges with widget customization and formula fields:

    • The color changes you attempted on the address widget labels may not apply as expected because some widgets have restrictions on what can be customized directly. For example, changing label colors might not always reflect if the widget's internal styling overrides it.
    • Regarding the formula fields to total responses within a widget, the formulas you received might not have been functional because setting up calculation fields requires proper syntax and configuration. In Form Builder, formula fields need to be set up carefully with correct field references and options like "Add field to equation as text by default" enabled. Also, ensure the formula uses the correct format with curly brackets for field IDs and proper functions.
    • For the loss of information and formatting in paragraph fields, this could happen if changes were made that affected those fields or if there was an issue with how the form was saved or updated.

Let me walk you through some steps to help with these issues:

    1. Widget Customization: To customize widget styles such as colors, use the widget's Custom CSS tab by selecting the widget in Form Builder, clicking the wand icon, and injecting your CSS code there. Keep in mind that some widgets have styling limitations.
    2. Formula Fields: When creating calculation fields, go to the calculation settings and ensure options like "Add field to equation as text by default" and "Result Field is Read Only" are set as needed. Use the correct syntax with curly brackets for field IDs and proper functions. You can check out our demo and guides on how to set up calculations properly.
    3. Paragraph Fields Formatting: Review your form's saved version and try to restore any lost formatting if possible. Avoid making bulk changes that might overwrite content unintentionally.

If you want more detailed guidance on injecting CSS to widgets or setting up calculation fields, you can respond to this thread and we will help you set this up.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

thanks for the walk through but i have been using Jotform for years. I was tired and frustrated when i wrote that and my communications were not what they should have been.

Jotform has its limitations unfortunately jotform does not set that up as rules for its AI. In the case of the workspace PODO it falls into coding traps attempting to treat calculated fields or conditional logic like code containers.

Early on when PODO was first introduced I was looking for a piece of logic that i could not find Specifically IF statements. Podo sent me looking for IF clickables in calculated fields and in conditional logic. they od course were not there. Then Podo moved on to instructing me to typing in code coping and pasting code in both enviroments I finally asked the question if Jotform Alows IF functions. So after 4 hours of coding attempts I found the right way to ask the question.

Last night I was looking for a way to get a count of response in a single form to a multiple response widget . My employees would fill out the form and list form 0 to 5 variables and i wanted a count of responses with in the Multiple response frame. PODO wrote code for me to inject in the caculated field. What Podo provided was a series of nested IFs. I then asked Podo if Jotform allows IF statements and he then apologized it does not

If statements are fundamental building blocks so it is odd they are not available but of course you can write a lot of code when you start nesting and perhaps it is a resource issue for JotForm. The problem is AI needs rules or it will seek answers that should work but cant because of system limitations.

    Why it matters

I know there is a lot of preasure for intelligent automations but until the issue of rules is solved your designer and copilot form agent will not work correctly. Customer will as I did last night asl them to do things that are not possible and they will default to what they can do Formula fragments and sweeping changes to forms not requested.

Podo in workspace is not as sexy but placed inside the form builder where it is accessable while building would be a great improvement. Limit copilot and designer to new builds before data is collected and loss of data is not an issue. FINALLY provide all your AIs with RULES.

It is my hope that this letter finds its way into the system to join a growing stack i suspect of Complaints and concerns regarding your building agents.
