TNNYHello,
Is it possible to have the form fields Unique Name passed on as the column headings when a form is integrated to Google Sheets instead of the field names that the people see who complete the form? We'd like internal fields that are typically formatted with brackets, such as {mainContact} and have that be the column heading that populates in Google Sheets.
We have some forms that we have integrated with google sheets and we then use GutHub to upload the data from those sheets to a CMS database in Wix...it would be ideal if instead of using the field names that the people who complete the form see as column headings in the google sheets that, the field names are spefic to what we need for GitHub to use for the upload.
Thanks,
Tom

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Tom,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Regarding your question, currently, when you integrate a Jotform form with Google Sheets, the column headings in the Google Sheets are automatically set to the field names (labels) that the form users see, not the Unique Names of the fields.
Unfortunately, there is no built-in option to have the integration use the Unique Names (such as {mainContact}) as the column headings in Google Sheets instead of the visible field names. The integration sends the data using the field labels as column headers.
Renaming the column headers directly in Google Sheets is possible, but it may break the integration, and the integration does not support customizing the column headings to use internal field names for the Google Sheets integration.
If you need to use specific internal field names for your GitHub upload process, you might consider using a workaround such as:
- Manually renaming the columns in Google Sheets after integration (not recommended as it can break sync).
- Using a separate script or tool to map the visible field names to your internal field names before uploading to your CMS database.
Currently, Jotform does not provide a direct feature to pass Unique Names as column headings in Google Sheets integration.
