Hi, a teacher notified us to say she received an error message that her file type was not valid, but she was trying to upload a PDF, which is a valid file type. We tried it on our end and got the same message. Please advise as to why this is occurring. Thank you! -
Podo: Support SpecialistHi Paul,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Regarding the issue where a PDF file upload is showing an invalid extension error despite PDF being an accepted file type, this can sometimes occur due to a few reasons such as:
- The file extension might appear correct but the file itself could be corrupted or not properly recognized as a PDF by the system.
- There might be a mismatch or typo in the accepted file types setting in the form's file upload field.
- Browser or cache issues might cause the form to incorrectly validate the file type.
To troubleshoot, please try the following steps:
- Verify the file: Ensure the PDF file is not corrupted and opens correctly on your device.
- Check the file upload field settings: In your form builder, confirm that the accepted file types are correctly set to include PDF (usually as .pdf).
- Clear browser cache or try a different browser: Sometimes cached data can cause validation errors.
- Test with a different PDF file: Try uploading another PDF file to see if the issue persists.
If after these steps the problem continues, please provide additional details such as the exact file name and size, and any specific error messages you see. This will help in further diagnosing the issue.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
