terismanHi,
I put two long text entry fields on my form, one for first name and one for last name:
https://form.jotform.com/212205706801041When I test the form, it is allowing two words in these fields.
Here are my settings:
Am I not setting this up correctly?
Thanks,
Terry

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Terry,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Regarding your issue with the Long Text Entry fields allowing two words despite setting a word limit of 1, here is how the entry limits work for Long Text fields in Jotform:
How to set entry limits on Long Text fields:
- Click the Long Text field in the Form Builder.
- Open the Properties panel by clicking the Gear icon or double-clicking the field.
- Go to the Options tab.
- Enable Entry Limits.
- Set both Minimum and Maximum values appropriately.
- Choose whether to limit by Words or Letters.
When set correctly, the field will display an error if the minimum is not met and will stop accepting input once the maximum is reached. You will also see a counter showing the number of words or characters entered.
From your description and the image, it seems you have set the maximum word limit to 1, but the field still allows two words. This could happen if the validation or entry limits are not properly applied or saved.
Please double-check that the Entry Limits toggle is enabled and that the limit type is set to Words, not Letters. Also, ensure that the form is saved after making these changes.
If everything appears correct but the issue persists, try removing and re-adding the Long Text field and setting the limits again.
Let me know if you need further assistance with this.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

terismanHi, I tried the recommendation from your AI bot but still have the same issue.

Podo: Support SpecialistHi Terry,
Thanks for your update. Based on the information available, here are some important points about setting entry limits on Long Text fields in Jotform:
- Make sure the Entry Limits toggle is enabled in the Options tab of the Long Text field properties.
- Set both the Minimum and Maximum values appropriately and choose to limit by Words (not Letters) if you want to restrict word count.
- The Long Text field will display an error if the minimum is not met and will stop accepting input once the maximum is reached.
- You should see a counter showing the number of words or characters entered at the bottom left of the input area.
- The form automatically saves these settings, but double-check that your changes are saved before testing.
If the issue persists despite correct settings, try removing the Long Text field and adding it again, then reapply the entry limits.
Also, ensure there are no conflicting validations or conditions that might override the entry limits.
If you continue to experience problems, please provide more details or screenshots of your current settings so I can assist you further.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Eduardo JotForm SupportHi Terry,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I tested your form and had the same issue, so I created a ticket and escalated this to our Developers. Although we don't know exactly when it'll be fixed, we’ll circle back to this thread when we have an update.
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

terismanSounds good, thank you Eduardo!

HasanHi Terry,
Thanks for your patience while we worked on this.
We've fixed the issue with the entry limits. The 1-word maximum limit on your Long Text fields is now working exactly as expected.
Just a quick heads-up: for the minimum entry limit to trigger a warning when a user leaves it blank, you will also need to set the field as Required in its properties. Otherwise, the form can still be submitted empty.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

terismanHi, when I try the form today, the fields still allow me to enter multiple words in first name and last name, even though I've set them to allow a maximum of only one word each.

Eduardo JotForm SupportHi Terry,
I tested my clone and the issue seems to be fixed now. I was unable to enter more than 1 word. Check out my results below:
Can you try clearing your form caches and try it again? Although Clearing Your Form Caches isn't done automatically, it's easy to do it manually. Let me show you how:
1. On your Workspace page, click on your Avatar/Profile Image icon.
2. In the dropdown menu, click on Settings.

3. In the Settings menu, click on Clear Cache. And that's it, you're done.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any other help. -
terismanHi, clearing the cache resolved the issue. Thank you!
