The AI Bot is in a circular loop with bad directions. How do I disconnect the original PDF from a form.

    Hi Ronald,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.

To disconnect the original PDF from your form or convert a PDF form into a standard form, Jotform does not provide a direct way to "disconnect" the original PDF once it has been imported. However, you can recreate the form as a standard online form by manually building it in the Form Builder instead of using the PDF import.

If your goal is to stop using the PDF version and switch to a regular form, you would need to create a new form from scratch or clone an existing form without the PDF connection.

If you want to remove PDF attachments from emails or autoresponders, here’s how to do it:

    1. Go to Form Builder, and click on Settings in the top orange navigation bar.
    2. Click on Emails on the left menu.
    3. Hover over the Autoresponder Email and click Edit.
    4. Go to the Advanced tab, toggle off Attach PDF to remove the PDF attachment.
    5. Click Save to apply the changes.

This will stop sending the PDF copy with the autoresponder email.

If you need to fully convert the PDF form to a standard form, you will need to manually rebuild it in the Form Builder.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Ronald,

To disconnect the original PDF from your Smart PDF Form in Jotform, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to your Workspace page and click on Type at the top. In the dropdown menu, uncheck all boxes except Forms so only forms are shown.
    2. Hover over your Smart PDF Form and click Edit Form on the right side.
    3. On the Smart PDF Forms page, click Settings in the blue navigation bar at the top.
    4. Toggle the switch for Original PDF Connection to Your Online Form to the Off position.

This will disable all features related to the connection between your online form and the original PDF, including hiding the Upload tab and the original PDF preview on the Smart PDF Forms page.

You can re-enable this connection anytime from the Form Settings if needed.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Ronald,

If the toggle switch for "Original PDF Connection to Your Online Form" is not visible in your Smart PDF Form settings, it may be due to the current interface or form type limitations.

Unfortunately, Jotform does not provide a direct way to disconnect the original PDF from a Smart PDF Form once it has been created if the toggle is not available.

As an alternative, you might consider recreating the form as a standard online form manually in the Form Builder without importing the PDF again.

If you want, you can also clone your existing form and then rebuild it without the PDF connection.

I understand this might not be the ideal solution, but currently, this is the available approach.

Let us know if you need guidance on rebuilding or cloning your form.

Reach out again if you need any other help.

    Hi Ronald,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to convert your Smart PDF forms to a classic form or disconnect your PDF document from the form, as this will remove all the fields on your form. I checked your account and don't see any Smart PDF forms created. Can you provide the form URL that you want the PDF document disconnected from?

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

I deleted the smart form and started over. I will never use that feature again. I was hoping to take a PDF form and use it as a template to generate a plain form.

The system needs to be able to create a plain form 'FROM' not make it a connected form. In my mind that is a bug with the only correction being to start over.

Thanks for getting back to me.

    Ron

    Hi Ron,

While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform. I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developers. When or if it's implemented depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Just came here to say thank you Ron for helping not feel crazy. I wanted to do this exact same thing and the AI agent Podo sent me those same directions. I was going insane looking for the "Original pdf...." button to toggle.
