Hi, we are planning to use Jotform for daily prestart checklist for our forklifts. One of the conditional logic that we would like to have in place is to restrict just one form daily per fork lift. Meaning if someone has submitted a prestart for forklift 1 (choose from dropdown list), system should prevent another form on the same day, same forklift to be submitted again. Is this possible?

Eduardo JotForm SupportHi E Shariff,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. This is indeed possible using Jotform's Unique Field feature. You can prevent the same person from filling out your form multiple times based on a Unique Field in just a few simple steps. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
- Next, click on Show More Options.
- Now, scroll down to the Unique Field section and select the field you want to use.
Check out the screencast below to see how it'll work: You can use the Unique Field feature with the Email, Short Text Entry, Dropdown, and Number field elements. This setup will prevent multiple submissions on the same day for the same forklift by showing a warning message if someone tries to submit the form again with the same forklift selection.
For more detailed guidance, you can check out the How to Set Form Limits Based on a Unique Field article.
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

elyamHi Eduardo. Thanks for getting back to me. If I were to use a unique ID field, such as an asset number, the system wouldn’t allow me to submit the form again, even after a new day, which isn’t what we want. What we need is for the system to allow the unique ID to be submitted once per day, but no more than once on the same day.

Kenneth JotForm SupportHi Elyam,
Currently, Jotform's Unique Field feature prevents duplicate submissions based on a field value, but doesn't have a built-in option to reset this restriction daily. This means if you set a field like the forklift asset number as unique, it will block any further submissions with the same asset number indefinitely, not just for the same day.
Unfortunately, there isn't a direct way to enforce a daily submission limit per unique ID using only conditional logic or the Unique Field feature in Jotform at this time.
One possible workaround could involve custom scripting or integration with external systems to track submission dates and enforce daily limits, but this would require advanced setup outside the standard Jotform features.
While that feature isn’t available in Jotform right now, I’ve sent your request to our Developers for review. When or if it gets developed will depend on their current workload, how possible it is, and how much demand there is from other users. If/when we have any updates, we’ll follow up here and keep you posted.
