I almost have this working. I have imported my information from excel into a table. That's fine. I match the fields, that all works. However, I can't seem to get the email address into the recipient before I send. Any thoughts?

BarışHi Lewes,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support.
The issue here is that the column you imported from Excel is not an Email-type column in Jotform Tables (it’s treated as a Short Text field), so it can’t be used as a recipient for the Send Invitation option.
At the moment, it isn’t possible to import data directly into an Email-type column. That’s why you’re unable to select those imported emails as prefill recipients but I’ve created a ticket for this feature to happen. As a workaround, please try the following:
- Open your form’s Tables.
- Add a new column and set the Column Type to Email.
- Copy and paste the email addresses from your imported column into this new Email column.
- Use this Email column when sending your Tables Prefill invitations.
After doing this, the recipient email should populate correctly when sending the invitations.

Thanks for the quick response. I thought that might be the problem. I do think this would be a great feature to add to an already great product!

JeromePeHello, can we copy-paste the entire column A (emails in Text Type) into newly added (email type) column B? Or do we need to copy paste manually every single entry/line?
thank you

Vishvakumar JotForm SupportHi Jerome,
You can copy and paste each email address into another column. Yes, you'll have to manually copy the email addresses. Let me show you how:
- In Jotform Tables, click on the Email address under the column 1, then right click on it.
- After that, choose the Copy option, and Paste it into Column 2. That's it.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes. -
BTC_RehobothStill looking for a good solution. Copying each email one at a time into the @mail column is very time consuming if one has hundreds of email addresses. There is no way to copy and entire column? Actual a better solution would be to allow us to edit the column name to @email, basically change the column type.

Adrian Besilla JotForm SupportHi Jerome,
Thanks for your continued interest in finding a more efficient solution for populating recipient emails from imported Excel data in Jotform Tables. Currently, when you import email addresses from Excel, they are treated as Short Text fields rather than Email-type columns, which prevents them from being used directly as recipients for sending invitations.
Regarding your question about copying an entire column of emails from a text-type column to a newly added email-type column, the process requires manual copy-pasting. Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature to copy and paste an entire column at once within Jotform Tables. You would need to select the email addresses and paste them into the new Email column manually. This is the recommended workaround until direct import into Email-type columns becomes available.
As for changing the column type of an existing column, for example, from Short Text to Email, this functionality is not currently supported. You cannot edit or convert the column type after creation. The best practice is to add a new column with the Email type and then transfer the data manually as described.
This method ensures the recipient email field populates correctly when sending invitations. We understand this can be time-consuming with large datasets, and a feature request has been submitted to enable direct import into Email-type columns and possibly allow changing column types in the future.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
