Hello!
We are having an issue with extra white space appearing in cells of our Autoresponder emails. Test emails appear fine when received but true autoresponder emails appear with the extra white space when received by the user. I tried to correct this by adjusting the pad setting to 0px for the particular cell, however, it did not correct the issue. Below is the direct link to one of the forms I am referring to and I also uploaded a screenshot of how the autoresponder appears. Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks!

Hi Jane,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Let me help you with the extra white space issue in your autoresponder emails.
The extra white space appearing in the cells of your autoresponder emails, despite test emails looking fine, can sometimes be related to the email template or how the autoresponder processes the content differently from test emails.
Here’s how to address this:
- Check the padding and margin settings in the autoresponder email template cells again, ensuring they are set to 0px or appropriately minimal.
- Verify the email template you are using for the autoresponder. The "Hide Empty Fields" option in the Advanced tab of the autoresponder settings can affect spacing if fields are empty. This option works only with the default template, so if you are using a custom template, consider switching to the default to see if the issue persists.
- Review the content and formatting in the autoresponder email editor to ensure no extra spaces or line breaks are inadvertently added.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please provide the form link again, and any additional details you can share about the autoresponder email template you are using.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

I checked the padding and margin settings and they are at 0px. I toggled "Hide Empty Fields" off then back on as it was and it is a default template. There are no extra spaces or line breaks.

Thank you!

Hi Jane,
Thank you for the update and for providing the form link. Since you have confirmed that the padding and margin are set to 0px, the "Hide Empty Fields" option is toggled on the default template, and there are no extra spaces or line breaks, the issue might be related to how certain email clients render the autoresponder emails differently from test emails.
One suggestion is to try clearing the cache of the email client or testing the autoresponder email in different email clients to see if the extra white space persists across all of them. Sometimes, email clients add their own spacing or formatting that can cause this appearance.
If the issue continues, you might consider creating a simple custom autoresponder template with minimal formatting to see if that resolves the spacing problem.
Please let me know if you would like guidance on customizing the autoresponder template or if you need further assistance.

Hi Jane,
When I cloned and tested your form, the same thing happened for me. After investigating it a bit, I found that it is related to some previous fields or alignment on the Email Table. Unfortunately, using the current template will always cause the issue but, it’s really easy to fix by first deleting the Autoresponder email and creating a new one. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
- In the menu on the left side of the page, click on Emails.
- Now, click on Add Email.
- Then, select Autoresponder Email, and customize the options the way you want them, and you’re done.
See the screenshot below of the newly added Autoresponder email:
Reach out again if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Thank you for your email. I did as you suggested and the extra white space has been eliminated. You stated that the issue was related to some previous fields or alignment on the Email Table. I recently made changes to all of the autoresponder and notification emails for our forms by adding our updated logo to them. I suspect that doing so is what created the issue with the extra white space as it appears that the same issue is occurring with some of our other autoresponders and notifications. In the interest of saving time, I would like to to delete the updated logo that I added at the top of the autoresponders and notifications and instead add it where the Jotform logo typically appears to the left of the form title field. However, when doing so, our logo appears much too large, even after resizing the png image to 660X291 pixels. Can you please advise how best to add an appropriately sized image of our logo to that field?
Thanks!

Hi Rachelle,
When I cloned and tested your form, the same thing happened for me. After investigating it a bit, I found a solution. It’s really easy to fix. Let me show you how:
1. First, copy this code:
<img src="{imageLink}" alt="" style="width: 50px; height: auto;" />
2. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
3. Now, go to Emails and create a new Autoresponder email and upload the image next to the Jotform logo.
4. Remove the Jotform logo and select Source code.
5. Now paste the code on your image section like this:
Make sure to replace the {imageLink} section of the code to be the link of your uploaded logo. Take a look at the screenshot below to see how it works after:
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
