    Hello,

We found that the notification email allows us to click on the link to open the questionnaire without requiring the encryption key. We would like to make sure that the encrption key is required from a security standpoint.

Can you help guide us in the settings to choose?

    Thank you.

    Hi Scott,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Let me help you with that:

To ensure the encryption key is required for accessing the questionnaire via the notification email link, you need to enable Form Encryption in your form settings. Here’s how:

    1. Go to the Settings tab in your Form Builder.
    2. Toggle on Encrypt Form Data to Yes.
    3. Follow the prompts to disable unsupported features and verify your account.
    4. Set an Access Code which will be required to open the form submissions.
    5. Click Enable Encryption to activate the encryption.

Once enabled, users will need the encryption key (access code) to open the form submissions, enhancing your form’s security.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Scott,

I cloned your form, received the notification email, and tested the links included in the email body. When I clicked them, they redirected to a Form not found page. Check out the screencast below to see my results:

    Could you share with us:

    • The exact link from the notification email that allows you to open the questionnaire without entering the encryption key
    • The correct form URL so we can confirm we are testing the same form
    • A screenshot or copy of the full notification email you received, including the clickable links
    • Whether this happens with multiple submissions or only specific ones
    • The browser and device you used when you observed this behavior
    • Whether you were logged into your Jotform account when clicking the link

Also, let us know if the form is currently encrypted and if you are using the default notification email content or a customized version. This will help us guide you on the correct settings to ensure the encryption key is always required for security.

If possible, could you share with us a screen recording of what’s happening so we can try to replicate it on our end? You can share the video recording on any public sharing platform like Google Drive or Dropbox, or you can simply use Loom to record the video and share the video link with us.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.
