How to apply the Show/Hide Field condition in PDF

If information shows in a "show/hide" condition, How can I get the shown field to appear in my pdf named "report"

When you create or edit your PDF document in the PDF Editor, you can add form fields anywhere in the document using the Form Fields option in the Text Field element. This will automatically populate the PDF with the values submitted in the form, including those from fields that were shown conditionally.

Here’s how to ensure the conditionally shown fields appear in your PDF:

1. In PDF Editor, click on Add Element n the left side panel of the page.
2. Go to Form Fields then drag and drop the field that you would like to be included on your PDF.

Note that the PDF will display the data from the fields that were filled out and shown during the form submission. If a field was hidden and left empty, it will not show data in the PDF.

I've checked out the screenshot you shared with us. Unfortunately, the static form fields such as image element, texts, or boxes they remain visible on the PDF Editor. You can't conditionally show/hide in the PDF Editor. While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers.

Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know. However, as a workaround, you'll have to manually remove the image elements and create multiple PDFs. Send them based on the condition. Here is a guide on how to email different PDF document template based on user's answers.

You should create specific PDF templates for each scenario. Then, set up multiple Autoresponder Emails, each linked to the appropriate PDF template. Finally, use conditional logic to send the correct email based on the submission. Check out the steps and screencast below to see how it's done. Let’s begin by creating a PDF document: 

1. In PDF Editor, in blue navigation bar, click on the New PDF button.

2. Click on Use Default Layout and customize your document as you like.

Now, let's create Autoresponder emails and attach PDF documents:

1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.

2. In the menu on the left side of the page, click on the Emails tab.

3. Click on the Add Email button and select Autoresponder.

4. Then, click on the Advanced tab, toggle On the Attach PDF section.

5. Select the PDF document you created, then click on the Save button at the bottom-right side of the Advanced tab.

Finally, let's set the conditionals based on the submitter's answers in the form:

1. While in the Settings tab, in the menu on the left side of the page, click on Conditions.

2. Click on Add Condition and then click on Change Email Recipient.

3. Set up the conditions as you see below and click on Save:

Now, whenever a submitter selects an option, they will receive an email with the related PDF document attached.

Thank you, is there a way for the user of my form to select a photo in the form, that will push it into a designated area of the pdf? like a radio button or something?

Jotform does not currently support mapping images from radio buttons or similar selection fields directly into a specific spot on a PDF. Instead, you can collect photos using the Take Photo widget or a File Upload field, allowing users to capture or upload images directly within the form. These images will be included in the generated PDF as attachments or linked files rather than being placed in a fixed location tied to a specific selection.

If you need a photo to appear in a designated position on the PDF based on a user’s choice, a practical workaround is to create multiple PDF templates, each with the desired image positioned accordingly. You can then use conditional logic to send the appropriate PDF to the user depending on their selection, as described earlier in the discussion.

That sounds great, but there are image bars for each area inspected.

That's a total of 24 Is that doable?

If you're referring to the creating of 24 PDF templates in the PDF editor, then it is possible. Let me show you how to create it.

1. In PDF Editor, select the + New PDF in the Navigation bar.

2. From the pop up Modal, select the Use Default Layout.

That's it and you're done. Doing this will add a new PDF Template that you can use and edit.
