Form 1: sign up new customers including a photo, and the form needs to generate a UID

    Form 2: Customer enters UID

Form 3: form will open containing their information and the photo they uploaded.

    how is this possible?

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

Here’s how to achieve your goal:

    1. Use the Take Photo widget in Form 1 to capture and upload the customer's photo directly.
    2. Generate a unique ID (UID) for each submission in Form 1 using the Unique ID widget.
    3. Store the data from Form 1 in Jotform Tables or another database.
    4. In Form 2, have the customer enter their UID.
    5. Prefill Form 3 with the customer's information and photo by using Jotform's Tables Prefill feature or URL parameters to pull data based on the UID entered.

This setup allows the photo and data to be saved and retrieved across multiple forms using the UID as a key.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Thomas,

Photo fields cannot be prefilled using Jotform's Prefill feature as it does not support widgets like the photo upload. To work around this, you can store the photo in Jotform Tables or an external database and then provide a link or display the photo dynamically outside the form.

For prefilled data, use supported fields like text, dropdowns, and choices with the Prefill tool.

Let us know if you want guidance on setting up this workaround.

    Hi Thomas,

Since direct prefill of photo fields isn't supported, consider these alternatives:

    • Use a custom script or integration to display the photo from Jotform Tables or your database on a webpage after the user enters their UID.
    • Send a link to the user that opens a page showing their photo and details.

This approach bypasses the limitation of prefilling photo fields within the form itself.

    Hi Thomas,

You can send a link with prefilled data by adding query parameters to your form URL. Here's how:

    1. Get your form URL from the Publish tab.
    2. Append the customer's UID and other info as URL parameters using the field's unique names, like this:
      https://form.jotform.com/yourUsername/yourFormSlug?uid=12345
    3. Share this customized URL with the user.

For the photo, since it can't be prefilled, you can display it on a webpage linked from the form or use Jotform Tables to show stored images based on the UID.

    Hi Thomas,

To find the URL of an image saved in Jotform Tables, open the specific submission in Tables and click on the image file. This will open the image in a new tab where you can copy the URL from the browser's address bar.

You can then share this URL or use it to display the image on a webpage.

    Hi Thomas,

Unfortunately, uploaded photos cannot be prefilled in Jotform forms. As a workaround, you can fill out the form first, including uploading their image. Then, set up an autoresponder email that includes the edit link to their submission. This way, users can access and update their information, including their photo, by using the edit link provided in the email.

You can easily set up an Autoresponder Email, enabling people to edit their submission later. It's easy, let's do it:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.

    2. In the menu on the left side of the page, click on Emails.

    3. Hover your mouse over your Autoresponder and click on the Pencil icon to customize it.

    4. Click on the Email Content window, then click on Form Fields, and select Edit Link.

    5. Customize the Edit Link the way you want, and when you're finished, click on Save on the bottom-right side of the Email Content window.

After submitting the form, submitters will receive an email like the one below. Once they click on it, they'll be able to edit their submission:
