My form getting slower when multiple user upload file

    Hello!

I am experiencing a slow upload issue on one of my forms. They have said that it take very long before the photo can be uploaded. Up to 10 minutes for some of them.
At the peak timing, I may have about 50 people using the jotform at the same time and uploading 3 photos each on average.
Would this cause lagginess in the upload?

Thank you and I look forward to your reply!

    Hi Elliot,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Regarding the slow photo upload issue on your form. Uploading photos can take longer when many users are uploading simultaneously, especially if each user is uploading multiple photos. In your case, with about 50 people uploading an average of 3 photos each at the same time, this can indeed cause some lag in the upload process. Here are some points to consider and tips to help improve upload speed:

Ensure that the individual file size does not exceed 1GB, as this is the maximum allowed per file on Jotform. You can easily change the Limit File Size in the File Upload element. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, click on the File Upload field, and then click on the Gear icon to open File Upload Properties.
    2. In the menu on the right side of the page, click on the Options tab.
    3. Then, toggle the Limit File Size to the On position.
    4. Now, set the Minimum and Maximum file size limits in KB to what you want, and you're done.

By the way, the number of Files per Submission. Jotform accepts up to 25 files per submission. If users are uploading many files, this might affect performance. Or, network and Server Load, due to simultaneous uploads, can strain network and server resources, causing slower uploads during peak times.

Additionally, you can use Jotform Mobile Forms with Take Photo Widget, if applicable. Using the Take Photo widget in Jotform Mobile Forms can streamline the photo capture and upload process, making it faster and more efficient.

Give these suggestions a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Danilo,

Ahh okay, thank you! Usually the size of photos are about 5MB. The most likely reason for the slow upload seems to be server resources. Is there a way to ask for more resources during peak times?

Thanks for the recommendations. In the meantime I will try limiting the size of the photos and see if it helps.

    Hi Elliot,

Jotform does not offer an option to allocate additional server resources specifically for peak usage periods. The upload speed can be affected by simultaneous uploads and server load, but there is no way to request extra resources on demand.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
