Add a Timestamp on the Uploaded Image

    Hello, Jotform team.

I would like to request the creation of a camera tool that adds a date, time and GPS coordinates stamp directly to the photo image at the time of capture.

For audit and inspection work, the date the form was submitted is not enough. We need proof in the image itself of when and where it was taken to ensure its authenticity and avoid using old photos from the gallery.

The current solution of using third-party apps is neither practical nor secure. A native function for this would be a great advantage for professional users.

    Thank you for your consideration.

Following up on my recent suggestion about implementing a new camera feature, I would like to detail and formalize what I understand by the "Timestamp" feature, as I believe this is the crucial point to meet the business needs that prompted my contact.

It is essential to clarify that my "Timestamp" request does not refer to the EXIF metadata of the image, which can be easily edited or removed, nor to the date the form was submitted. The professional need I am seeking to meet is more rigorous.

The requested functionality is a visual stamp, applied directly to the image in a permanent (indelible) manner at the exact moment of its capture.

This time and location stamp must contain, in a clear and legible manner, the following critical information:

GPS coordinates: Latitude and Longitude captured by the device at the location of the photo.

The presence of this visual and indelible stamp is what gives authenticity and evidentiary value to the image. It transforms a simple photo into documented evidence, essential for compliance processes, audits, insurance inspections and legal validations, where the integrity of the evidence must be unquestionable.

I thank you again for your attention and I hope that this detailed explanation helps to clarify the importance and technical specificity of the suggested functionality.Add a Timestamp on the Uploaded Image Image 1 Screenshot 20

    Hi Dib,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Currently, we don’t have a built-in tool that automatically stamps the date, time, and GPS coordinates directly onto the photo image.

As a workaround, you can use the Take Photo widget instead. This widget opens the user’s camera to capture a live picture rather than uploading from the gallery which can help maintain authenticity. It's really easy to add this to your form. Let me show you how:

    1. While in Form Builder, click on Add Element on the left side of the page.
    2. In the Form Elements menu, under the Widgets tab, scroll down the list and choose the Take Photo widget.
    3. Now, just drag and drop it to your form.

Thank you for your feedback. I would like to clarify something to ensure that my needs are understood accurately.

The basic image capture functionality through the platform already meets our needs. There is no difficulty in terms of the ability to take a photo.

The central point of my request, however, is not the capture of the photo itself, but rather the enrichment of that image with verifiable data at the time of capture.

The essential requirement is that the final image, when generated, contains a data overlay — a visual 'stamp' — applied permanently. This overlay must include the information I detailed above, with a primary emphasis on the GPS location (Latitude and Longitude), captured in real time at the exact moment the photo is taken.

This functionality is crucial to ensuring the authenticity and integrity of the visual evidence in our processes.

    Hi Dib,

Unfortunately, support for stamping date, time, and GPS data directly onto captured images are currently not available. While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Absolutely agree—having a built-in timestamp and GPS tagging feature would streamline professional inspections. Until then, trusted services like are setting the bar for professional standards and documentation.
