HI Jeff,
Thanks for contacting Jotform Support. I cloned your form and tested it, but wasn’t able to replicate the issue. I submitted an entry, edited it, and was able to resubmit successfully. I’ve provided a screencast below for your reference.
Can you follow the basic troubleshooting steps below:
- Use a different browser.
- Connect device to a different network.
- Use a different device.
If the issue persists, can you please let us know if your form is embedded on a website? If so, please share the URL. Also, can we do a test submission on your form?
Keep us updated and let us know if you need any more help.

Okay, can you try typing in 3603 into the RIS staff at the top and see if that makes a difference. I tried with my hotspot on my phone and it would not submit. Should I use another browser other than Chrome?

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for getting back to us. I tried entering 3603 in the RIS Staff field and was able to submit the form. I’ve included a screencast below for your reference.
Can you please try it on a different browser besides Chrome so we can isolate whether the issue only occurs in specific browsers? Also, can you confirm if you've tested it on a different device?
Lastly, can you send us the affected submission IDs and grant us access to your account? Don’t Don't worry, you can disable that again after we're done checking things out. Let me show you how to do it:
1. In the upper-right corner of your My Forms page, click on your Avatar/Profile Image icon.
2. In the small window that opens, click on Settings.
3. In the panel on the left, click on the Security tab.
4. Then, on the bottom-right side of the page, toggle Jotform Support Access to the On position.
After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

I tried a new device and a different browse and still the same result. I allowed the setting for support access.

Don't know if this is helpful but I can edit other forms perfectly fine, it is just this form that is giving me trouble.

Hi Jeff,
I logged into your account and tested it to see if I could replicate the issue, but everything was working properly. I was able to edit the submission with the 3603 value for the RIS staff field. Check out the screencast below to see my results:
Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

I am a little confused because it was working great yesterday, then today I was having problems. Now when I try, it takes a while but it eventually submits. Why the inconsistency, is this a problem with the servers? We have been debating the advantages to switching to enterprise, would this issue be solved with our own server?

Also the defaults on my multiple choice selections do not consistently fill, our company has a business grade internet plan so speed is not an issue. Why am I having problems with dependability? Is the form too big or complex?

Hi Jeff,
Based on your description, the inconsistency you're experiencing may be tied to the form’s complexity, especially if it includes a large number of fields, conditional logic, or widgets. These elements can occasionally cause delays or erratic behavior when editing submissions, particularly during peak usage times.
The issue with default values not consistently populating could also be related to how those defaults are set, whether through conditions or field settings and how they interact with the submission data during edits.
While our standard servers are designed to handle high traffic, Jotform Enterprise offers a dedicated server environment that can provide more consistent performance, faster load times, and greater control, especially for high-volume or mission-critical workflows.
Contacting our Enterprise Sales Team is easy, you'll just need to send a request first, and they'll reach out to you with more information. Let me show you where to find the request form:
- Go to the Contact Sales page, and fill out the form.
- Then, click on the Send Request button, and that's it.

The defaults are field settings so what would cause them it inconstantly populate?

Hi Jeff,
Just to clarify, your Multiple Choice field has default values set in the field settings, but those defaults aren't consistently populating when the form is edited. When I checked your Multiple Choice fields, I noticed that it is conditionally shown or hidden. I also reviewed your form’s settings and noticed that the Clear Hidden Field Values option is set to Clear when submitted. I’ve provided a screencast below for your reference.
So, once the form is initially accessed and the Multiple Choice field is hidden, its default value will be cleared upon submission. When you go back to edit the submission, the Multiple Choice field will appear blank without its default value.
If you’d like to keep the default values even when the field is hidden at the time of submission, you’ll need to change the Clear Hidden Field Values setting to Don’t Clear. Let’s walk through the steps together:
- In Form Builder, click on the Settings tab in the orange navigation bar at the top.
- Under Form Settings, click on Show More Options.
- Now, scroll down and select the Don't clear option from the Clear Hidden Field Values dropdown menu.
Reach out again if you have any other questions.

This morning I went to edit the form and once I put in 3603, the form would freeze. This happened on more than one devise and again our WIFI is great. Is this another problem with your server?

Hi Jeff,
There is no known issue on our end related to the problem you described. Since we cannot replicate the issue, could you take a screenshot of the console report when the freezing occurs? Also, does the issue only happen when typing 3603 in the RIS staff field, or does it occur with other inputs as well?
Additionally, consider disabling any browser extensions or VPN you might be using, as these can sometimes interfere with form functionality.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
