Missing PDFs: How to avoid and recover the lost PDFs?

    Hello,

When my users submit a form, it generates a PDF that is emailed to me. I have not changed any setting and suddenly several times yesterday the PDFs were never sent. This is extremely frustrating as it requires me to pull the info and reformat everything from the form itself, nullifying the reason I have paid for my subscription. Please advise how to avoid this issue and how to recover the lost PDFs.

    Thank you,

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. It can be frustrating when PDFs are not sent as expected, especially when you rely on them for your workflow. Here’s how you can avoid this issue and recover the lost PDFs:

    To recover the missing PDFs.

You can easily download your data from Jotform Tables. Let me show you how:

    1. In Jotform Tables, select the submission that didn't have the attached PDF.

    2. Click the Download All button on the upper-right side of the page.

    3. Now, select the PDF to download your data.

To avoid missing PDFs in the future:

    • Check your email notification settings in your form to ensure the PDF attachment option is enabled. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on the Settings tab.

    2. In the menu on the left side of the page, click on Emails.

    3. Hover your mouse over the Notification Email element and click on the Pencil icon.

    5. Now, scroll down, click on Save, and you're done.

    • Verify that your email provider is not blocking or filtering emails with attachments from Jotform.
    • Consider setting up alternative notification emails or forwarding rules to ensure delivery.
    • If you use any third-party integrations or email clients, verify they are configured correctly to receive attachments.

Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Jerlan,

I haven't changed any settings. I have actually had new submissions since my inquiry that have come through just fine. This is a technical glitch in the Jotform software. My email settings are also the same as always. I see how to download the PDF but it is not the same as receiving the email because the PDF in Jotform does not have easy way to download the photos included. Is there any way on the back end that you are able to resend the email with the PDF and photos from the person who submitted the form?

    Thank you,

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

I cloned and tested your form to replicate the issue, but it is working properly. Check out the screenshot below:

We can investigate this further. I’ll just need access to your account to do that. Don't worry, you can disable that again after we're done checking things out. Let me show you how to do it:

    1. In the upper-right corner of your My Forms page, click on your Avatar/Profile Image icon.

    2. In the small window that opens, click on Settings.

    3. In the panel on the left, click on the Security tab.

    4. Then, on the bottom-right side of the page, toggle Jotform Support Access to the On position.
