Start and Stop Timer

I'm creating a jotform that will track my son's stats during a basketball game. It will allow each parent to track their stats for game and roll it up. I'd like to track the amount of time they are in the game. When they leave the game, stop the timer. When they come back in Start the time running again. Is this possible with jotform? Then it would submit the total time.

    Hi there!

Jotform doesn't have a built-in stopwatch or live timer feature, so you can't automatically track and pause time when a player enters or exits a game. However, you can still track total play time by having parents manually enter the time their child enters and exits the game using time fields. Jotform can then calculate the difference between those times and sum them up. While it won’t run a timer in real time, this method allows you to log multiple in/out times and calculate total minutes played using Jotform Tables or calculation fields.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Alvin,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Currently, Jotform offers a Timer widget that can track how long a form is being filled out. This widget is useful for tests, quizzes, or timed forms, but it doesn't have a button to manually stop or start the timer within a single submission to track intermittent periods like time in and out of a game.

As a workaround, you can use multiple Time fields, so parents can manually add the time and automatically calculate the duration for the time the players were in the game. It's easy to do. Let me walk you through it:

    1. While in Form Builder, click on Add Element on the left side of the page.
    2. In the Form Elements menu, under the Basic tab, scroll down the list and choose the Time field.
    3. Now, just drag and drop it to your form.
    4. Click the Gear icon and go to Range tab to enable Time Range and Duration Indicator.

    1. While in Form Builder, click on Add Element.
    2. Go to Widgets tab, and drag a Form Calculation widget to your form.
