Clinic List Sorting Issue – Numerical Order Incorrect in Title Sorting

The next problem that keeps occurring is we have our list of clinics in title [a-z] order. This is important as we have 16 different lists open at the same time and need them to be in order for accessibility. However it keeps putting a form titled 5/10 Clinic in front of a form titled 5/9 Clinic... this needs to be changed as 10 is larger than 9 and needs to follow after so that we can have our registrations in proper order.

    Hi Paul,

I understand that you need your list of clinics to be sorted in a way that respects numerical order within the titles, so that 5/10 Clinic appears after 5/9 Clinic rather than before it.

Here’s how to address this issue:

    1. Use a consistent naming convention: Instead of using slashes and numbers that can be misinterpreted, try formatting the clinic titles with leading zeros for numbers (e.g., 5/09 Clinic and 5/10 Clinic). This will help the alphabetical sorting treat the numbers correctly.
    2. Custom sorting: If you are viewing the lists in Jotform Tables or Inbox, currently the sorting is alphabetical by default, which does not handle numeric sorting within text well. Unfortunately, Jotform does not support natural sorting (numeric-aware sorting) in titles at this time.
    3. Alternative approach: Consider adding a separate numeric field for the clinic number and sorting by that field instead of the title. This way, you can ensure the order is strictly numeric and accessible across multiple lists.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
