Good morning,
I'm having an issue with table view "Grouping".
For quick context:
- I created a form to collect group evaluations.
- I decided to make the form Encrypted before collecting responses.
- I collected responses.
- I then went to the table view, and realized that I could not filter because it was encrypted.
- I then un-encyrpted the form, went back to Table view, and although the Filter function is back online, when I filter then results are scrambled from what I assume is the previously encyrpted informtation (See attached screenshot with what appears to be the previously encrypted information).
- I still have the encryption password.
My main issue is this: Because it was encrypted previously, I cannot use Table view filters even after un-encrypting the form itself. After un-encrypting, the filter options re-appear in Table view, but the data (now un-encrypted) still appear to be scrambled and thus, un-filterable (see snapshot).
My question is: Is there any way to remove any traces of the encryption so that I can group and sort my data with table view?

Hi saismasci,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support regarding your issue with encrypted forms and Table view filtering.
When you enable form encryption in Jotform, the data is end-to-end encrypted, meaning it is securely encoded and can only be decrypted with the access code you set. While your form is encrypted, certain features like filtering in Table view are disabled to protect your data.
After you un-encrypt the form, the filter functionality returns, but the previously encrypted data may still appear scrambled or unorganized because the data was stored in an encrypted format. Simply disabling encryption does not automatically decrypt or reformat the stored data in the Table view.
Unfortunately, there is no way to remove traces of encryption from previously encrypted data to restore full Table view filtering and grouping functionality. The encrypted data remains scrambled unless properly decrypted using the original access code when viewing submissions.
To properly view and filter your data, you should access your submissions through Jotform Tables or Inbox by entering your encryption access code to decrypt the data. This will allow you to see the decrypted, readable data and use filtering and grouping features effectively.
In summary:
- Encryption protects your data but disables some Table view features like filtering.
- Un-encrypting the form does not automatically decrypt previously encrypted submissions.
- You must use your encryption access code to decrypt and view the data properly in Tables or Inbox.
- There is no method to remove encryption traces from stored data once encrypted without decrypting it.
Ensure you use your encryption password to access and decrypt your submissions in Tables or Inbox to regain full functionality.
Reach out again if you have any other questions.
