Forms: Form Accessibility is not compatible with screen reader support

    Hi

Some feedback regarding "Accessibility" & screen reader support.

We trialed using Jotform as a tool to gather anonymous feedback from our customer base. One segment that we want to engage more are those who have Accessibility needs - whether they are blind or partially sighted, have reduced mobility or any other Accessibility requirements.

We used Jotform to gather feedback about a new initiative to support these segments. However, no matter what we did, the Jotform survey did not meet the Accessibility needs of someone using a screen reader. This is the exact feedback we received most recently:

"While it may [be] technically accessible using a screen reader, having the survey in a table, option buttons to chose your answer and the questions repeating themselves is making it unusable for me. I had to give up as I was losing my focus"

After doing minimal research I discovered that:

"When screen readers repeat questions or information in an HTML table, it often stems from improper table structure or missing accessibility features".

This is despite using the Jotform 'Accessibility checker'.

Perhaps you could try using a screen reader, or finding someone who is familiar with them, to test HTML tables in Jotform. As it is now, we couldn't justify using it for future surveys as it would alienate a part of our customer base that we are trying to engage with more.

    Regards

    Ron

    Hello Ron,

Thank you for reaching out to Jotform Support. I have checked your form and I see that you already have enabled the Form Accessibility. Since the tables wasn't really working well with your users, you can try using the Single Choice element for each question instead of the Input Table: Forms: Form Accessibility is not compatible with screen reader support Image 1 Screenshot 20 Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

Agreed, this is an option. However, this rules out the possibility of using tables.

But thanks for the prompt response

    Hi Ron,

While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
