Calculation Widget: How to compile all calculations within form in just one calculation widget?

    Hello,

I'm working on a personality quiz-type form, and I was wondering how I could utilize the "count" or "sum" functions in the calculation widget. As you can see below, each response to each question in the form has been assigned an alphabetical calculation value (V, P, or K).

At the end, I need the calculation widget to simply "count" the number of responses that have the value V (or P or K), total them, and present them to the user. So there will be 3 different calculation fields/widgets at the end, one displaying the total number of Vs, the second the total number of Ps, and the third the total number of Ks.

Is this possible to achieve using one of the advanced functions?

Currently the form is configured in a different way, using conditions and hidden fields for each question. But it's a bit cumbersome and I would like to ideally do away with all the hidden fields and conditions and just use a clean, straightforward way to calculate the totals - like using the count or sum functions, if possible.

    Thank you!

    Menel

    Hello Menel,

Thank you for reaching out to Jotform Support. I have looked into your form and the current set up now is the best way to achieve your requirement. Unfortunately, it is not possible to just use one calculation widget to achieve it due to some limitations. Do note that the Calculation Widget, although it can calculate multiple formula, it can only generate a single answer. It means calculating the number of V, P or K selected will not work within its set formula since you need to find individual value of each letter, and it may affect the widgets function.

That's it. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello Myla,

Thanks for your quick response. I actually intended to use 3 calculation widgets at the end of the form, one each to calculate the number of V, P, K. Is this possible to achieve? Each widget would generate one numerical answer (a simple count of the Vs, Ps or Ks), with 3 answers in total, which is what I need.

    Thanks,

    Menel

    Hi Menel,

I have reviewed your form and currently, it is already configured correctly based on your explanation as shown in the screenshot.

    Hi Christopher,

The issue I have with the current configuration of my form is that each question has 3 (hidden) fields that are then used to calculate the 3 totals for V, P and K. Each of these fields had to be set up separately with conditions, which was very time-consuming, and they are also using up my 100-field limit (I still need to add more questions to the form). I wondered if the "Calculation Values" option (shown below) could be used to calculate the 3 totals at the end, thus eliminating the need to create 3 hidden fields per question.

At the end, the 3 calculation widgets would simply need to "count" the number of responses that have the value V, P and K, and display them to the user.

Hope that explains my question. Thank you!

    Hi Menel,

Unfortunately, there is no other workaround available aside from your current set up. I would suggest creating a new form for your other questions and use the Redirect to an external link after submission feature where your form user will be redirected to another form/website after clicking on the Submit button. We also have a guide about How to Redirect Users After Submission that you can check out.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
