Hi Kyle,
I’ll need a bit of time to look into this. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Hi Kyle,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. You want to set up your form so it only charges a deposit amount, and you’re considering using the recurring payment option for this. You can do that by creating a subscription product with PayPal or Square in your payment settings and enabling the Set Custom First Payment Cost feature. This lets you set the first payment as your deposit, for example, $100, while the following payments cover the remaining balance according to your chosen schedule. It’s easy to integrate PayPal Business into your form using Reusable Payment Connections. Let me show you how:
1. In Form Builder, click on the Add Element menu on the left side of the page.
2. In the window that opens, go to the Payments tab, and click on PayPal.
3. Next, in the menu on the right side of the page, click on the Plug icon.
4. Then, in the window that opens, add a Connection Name, and click on Connect with PayPal.
5. In the window that opens, log in to your PayPal account.
6. Once done, click on Return to Jotform’s Test Store, and click on Save.
7. Finally, in the Payment Method section, enable the option you want by checking the box next to it.
After setting up the PayPal Reusable Payment Connection, we'll set up the Recurring Payment:
- In Form Builder, select the Payment field, and click on the Credit Card icon.
- Next, in Payment Properties under Payment Type, select the Sell Subscriptions option.
- On the pop-up modal, click on the Yes, Change button.
- After changing the Payment type, click on the Shopping Cart icon to access Subscription Settings.
- In Subscription Settings, scroll below and toggle the Set Custom First Payment Cost option to YES.
- Next, enter the amount for the First Payment, for now, put in $100.
- Scroll above, into the Number of Payments option, and select 2.
- Finally, click the Save button.
Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.
