Standard Overtime/ Excess Travel Pre-Approval
IMPORTANT: This form is to seek pre-approval for standard overtime and/or excess travel time. Major Incident approval/claims are a separate process. Pre-approval on planned overtime should be requested a minimum of 5 days in advance. * What is Excess Travel? - Excess travel is defined as directed travel done outside normal hours (which we have legal advice to define to mean before 7.30 and after 6pm Mon-Fri, all day Sat and Sun, (and Public Holidays) in order to commence duty at a location that isn’t your normal headquarters. * Dont forget your WH&S; if you work more than five hours, you must take a minimum 30 minute meal break. If you are driving long periods, *Stop, Revive & Survive* This form will accept up to three entries on each Overtime and three entries on Excess Travel.

Where a staff member has worked approved overtime they are entitled to be paid for that overtime or otherwise elect to accrue leave in lieu (LIL). LIL shall be taken within three months of accrual, or paid for the balance of any overtime entitlement not taken in the same period. LIL is managed at the local level between the manager and relevant staff. Appropriate records must be maintained.
